a forever type of love

i drove through the streets of st albans with leah in the passenger seat as usual

as we neared our destination of her parents house, i made a quick pit stop

"i'm gonna pull into tesco real quick, do you want anything?" i asked as i entered the car park

"can you get me a bottle of water please" she asked with her head in her phone

i nodded my head before parking the car and swiftly entering the shop

i grabbed a basket and aimlessly walked around the aisles trying to find the things in my mental checklist

i eventually found the drinks and instantly picked up two bottles of water

about 3 minutes of wandering around later, i found the alcohol

i picked up a crate of beer to add to the waters in the basket

last but not least, i found the flowers neatly placed together next to the home section

it took me a while to find the perfect bouquets but i settled for two lots of lillie's and some roses

i headed over to the cashier, quickly paid, thanked him and walked back to the car

i put the beers and the two sets of lillie's in the boot of the car before opening the drivers door

"you took your time" leah said playfully

"had to pick the perfect flowers for the perfect girl" i said with a huge smile on my face and held the roses out so they were in her reach

"what are these for?" she asked as a slight pink colour flushed across her face

"just because" i replied and giggled at the sight of her blushed cheeks

"thank you baby, i love them" she smiled as she took them out of my hands

"i love you le, more than anything in this world" i said softly

"i love you too" the smile grew stronger on her face

"oh and here's the water you requested" i giggled before putting the bottle in her lap

we set off, once again, with only a few minutes left to go

as i drove closer and closer to the house, an anxious feeling consumed me

it wasn't to do with her parents or brother, it was her grandmother

meeting parents for the first time are always nerve wracking but grandparents? they're a different level of stress

i parked the car in the driveway and let out a huge sigh

"everything okay al?" leah asked with a concerned tone in her voice

"yeah i'll be fine" i replied as i took the keys out of the ignition

"are you sure baby, what's up?" she replied, the concern in her voice growing

"i'm just worried that your grandma won't like me" i admitted

"baby, she's going to love you. i promise you" she assured me and placed her hand over mine

i shot her a small smile before giving her a quick peck

i got out of the car and opened the boot to reveal the items i had just bought

"le can you take the beers please" i asked which resulted in her nodding her head and picking them up

i picked up the flowers and we headed for the front door

i took a deep breath as we waited for the door to be opened
