"They're human,"

Y/N knew her stomach was going to churn and hearing it from Shoko didn't help.

"Well, I guess I outta call them former humans. They're similar to the three from the theater. The structure of their bodies was forcibly altered by a cursed technique." She continued, speaking through Nanami's phone that was placed on top of a coffee table on speaker.

Y/N yawns as she sat on the couch next to Yuji, he was probably just as grossed out if not feeling guilty for it.

"If that was all I would have noticed from the start, the three we just fought were more than just altered, they were full of cursed energy like cursed spirits are." Nanami responds and Y/N can tell that he's not really emotionally attached to the fact that they were once human.

"You'll have to ask the culprit to explain his cursed technique to you," Shoko adds on, audibly sighing before continuing her sentence. "though there is evidence that their brain stems have been tampered with, most likely to create confusion and impaired consciousness... If they can tamper with the brain, it might be possible to modify someone to be able to use cursed energy."

Y/N looked outside the window of the office they were sitting in, watching the rain hit the trees and the windowpane outside.

It was a calm rain, kind of like monsoon season type rain, which would make sense since that occurs in the summer anyway.

"The relationship between the brain and cursed energy is still a black box to us... Wait, is Itadori and L/N listening?"

"Yeah, I'm here."

"Me too." Y/N adds.

"I think it's important you two understand this much, these guys died from the shock of what happened to their bodies, so you didn't kill them... Don't get the wrong idea about that."

"Thanks." Yuji replied, clearly not feeling any better about it anyway.

"Okay, bye." Y/N nods, deciding to take what Shoko said. What happened was evil but it wasn't caused by her or Yuji, plus it seems that there isn't a way to revert it, at least not yet.

Nanami hung up on Shoko and sat up. For some reason Y/N didn't mind the quiet that engulfed the room for a bit.

Even though it seemed a bit awkward or maybe even solemn, she was content with just sitting here in silence.

Maybe she's just too tired to care.

"That's easy to say, the weight of those two deaths still feels pretty heavy." Yuji states, glaring at the floor.

"... Whatever this thing is that we're after, it disgusts me to the core."

Y/N turned her head to look at a very angry Yuji. He was seething so much that he might actually rip the towel he had from the sheer force of his fist closing in on the fabric. Angry wasn't even the right word, more like livid.

Y/N wasn't sure how to make him feel better because in a way he was right.

Whoever or whatever did this was evil, was so bad that they would destroy a person, a kid that was pretty close to her age at that. Willing to distort their very being.

Can someone who's human even have that amount of vile corruption?

Y/N would have puked if she ever even dared kill someone, let alone turn them into some strange, mentally trapped creature. That would be hell for the victim, and hell for her, she would feel terrible and be guilty till the day she died.

"... That's just like you isn't it Yuji?" Y/N finally asked with a soft smile, hoping to maybe lighten up the mood a bit. Maybe if she made him feel like she was supporting him, then he wouldn't be as angry.
