It was safe to say that with this news of the freshman going out before a big tournament would cause Geno to be angry. Not only were they on a dry season but the girls had strict rules when in March Madness, they were not to leave the hotel for safety reasons. Geno always ran his practices like the military, he truly expected nothing but 100% from his players. In his mind he invested in them so they should invest back into the program. And for most of the players it was true. Everyone on the team besides Blake and Jenna had always done right by the program especially Rylee, Paige, Nika, and Azzi always going into the schools and on campus doing charity events and helping elevate the program. It was back in the office that Geno brought Jenna and Blake to say that they were suspended from the program and could be released if they didn't make a change.
ESPN:
With today's showdown happening T-4 hours it was just announced from UConn Blake McGrath and Jenna Degen will be suspended meaning UConn will only have 7 players dressing for tonight's game. While the starting five line up has not been announced for either team it is safe to say the buzz of Clark vs Clark has caused a frenzy in New York City. Will 7 players for UConn be enough or will it hurt them in the end?
Rylee pov:
As I was in the hotel room with Paige getting ready we were talking. While everything has been on the down low and we really haven't done much as a couple due to tournaments it was still nice to be around her and be in her company. That's the think about Paige, she carries this essence of calmness that makes you feel secure.
Paige: What are you thinking of
Rylee: I guess just about the game and wanting to win. But if I win I hurt my sister but if I lose I hurt my team
Paige: You can't think about that, you just have to go and do your best don't worry what the press will say or you sister. She still has another year at Iowa that she can Win it. Its anyones game and you worked so hard for it. You deserve it!
Rylee: Thanks P you are truly the best. What would I do with out you
Paige: I don't know probably be lonely and die
Rylee: I would't die I would just be lonely
Paige: But then no one would make or buy your coffee and you live off of it so you would die
Rylee: Mrs. Bueckers you do have a valid point
The game
Announcer: It is the game the world has been waiting to see, Iowa vs Uconn or should I say Clark vs Clark. We have Jason, Kylie, and Travis Kelce in the house tonight along with Basketball ledges Steph Curry whth his family sitting next to LeBron James with his family. You also can't for get about the great UConn alums Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, and Breanna Stewart. What a crowd we have today. This is greatness happening. The players are about to start with the starting lineup for Iowa being Gabbie Marshall, Kate Martian, McKenna Warnock, Monika Czinano, and Catlin Clark. For UConn we have Paige Bueckers, Nika Mühl, Azzi FuDD, Aaliyah Edwards, and Rylee Clark
First Quarter:
With a fast and aggressive game it is UConn coming out on top with 19 points and Iowa with 14. We see here Nika and Paige playing great defense on Caitlin causing her not to be able to make as many 3 pointers and forcing her to pass. As well as some great forced turnovers from Aaliyah Edwards. But it's Rylee who preformed amazing as she escaped Iowa's constant pressure and was able to put up 9 points in this first quarter. Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martian have played great defense on Rylee and Paige. It seems that this pair has their game down to a science, knowing that if they break Rylee and Paige it's harder for UConn to make a bucket.
Second Quarter
Pulling ahead by 1 point UConn is still in the lead, thanks to Paige Bueckers. Caitlin has made some amazing 3 pointers as she as been able to put 9 points on the board with Gabbie with a 3 pointer as well. We also have been seeing some amazing defense on Kate Martian forcing Rylee Clark to only be able to get 1 3pointer and a 2 pointer from a foul. At this time it's still anyone's game
Third quarter:
It seems that UConn has lost its steam as Iowa has put up an impressive 25 points this quarter. Have the Iowa Hawkeyes been able to dig deep and show out?
This quarter was a tough one with Paige Bueckers and Rylee scoring most of the points but a great 3-pointer at the end of the quarter by Nika Mühl. However it is imported to note Azzi Fudd was subbed out due to what looks like a knee injury. It really goes to show how basketball is such a team sport and with UConn down to only 6 available players left will UConn be able to pull ahead
Fourth Quarter live:
Rylee's pov: This game as been a tooth and nails type of game. With high intensity and a constant battle. Whenever we get a point they seem to get it. I look around and notice that everyone is exhausted and quite frankly in their head. That's when I huddle the girls around.
Rylee: Listen, I know we are tired and I know we are ready to give up but this is a game. We need to dig deep. Look at the bench right now, we have one available player and the rest of our friends are sitting bench from injuries so If we can't do it for us we do it for them and Coach. He's invested in us so and put his faith completely in us and I'm not ready to do that yet. We have 30 seconds left and we are at 69 to 71 all we need is a 3 pointer so shoot go crazy. together on 3. 1,2,3

As I turn around ready to position for a start as the ball went out of bound's I turn to look at the opponent. It was then I felt something hit my back.
