Smash Bros has heroes, and Mario and Link are about to meet the 2 people they'd never see again, King Bowser and King Ganondorf.
Then, Bowser and Ganondorf challenge Mario and Link to a battle and they beat our heroes. Then, they kidnap Peach and Zelda and say that they'll be waiting in the Melee Tournament.
