The next day, Veda awoke with a pounding headache. She realized she was in her and Michael's room. When she reached over to Michael's side of the bed, she found it empty. As she attempted to get up, a terrible ache shot through her legs and abdomen. Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced her head, and she had to squeeze her eyes shut against the pain.
With a sudden jolt, the events of the previous day flashed before Veda's closed eyes. All her misdeeds came flooding back, and her breathing grew rapid. She glanced to where Michael usually slept, only to find his side of the bed empty. Quickly, she got up and hurried downstairs, each step feeling like needles piercing her feet. Her hands burned as she gripped the railing for support.
A strange sensation coursed through her body, one she couldn't ignore. She yearned to embrace her desires fully, to be with him completely, to feel his love. She longed for moments of happiness with him, to be close and never let go, even though he had never truly been hers. Her need for him had become overwhelming, and she wanted to ask if they could start fresh despite everything that had happened.
Halfway down the stairs, she froze when she saw Michael and everyone else gathered together, their faces tense with worry. As she approached, all eyes turned to her. Veda's gaze fell on Mia, and her eyes filled with a fierce loathing. But what shocked her most was seeing tears streaming down Mia's face.
Veda's eyes fell on Santo and Arthur again, and she wondered, 'Everyone is here, so where is Valerio?' She glanced at Michael, and a sense of fear started to creep through her body. A cold shiver ran down her spine. "Where were you?" Veda flinched.
She looked at Michael with suspicion and thought, 'He must have been the one who put me to bed last night, right? I can't remember anything from yesterday.' She began to feel short of breath as a dreadful thought crossed her mind, 'If Michael has figured out what I did last night, he will kill me.'
Raising her head nervously, she spoke in a low voice, trying to inject some confidence to mask her fear. "W-what do you mean?" But the tremor in her voice betrayed her, making Michael's face tense up even more, and he raised an eyebrow at her. Veda noticed his eyes drifting over her body before he stood up and started walking toward her.
Michael approached her, his eyes fixed on her neck. Veda wasn't paying much attention to Michael's actions, but as he approached her, she naturally took a step back. But, when Michael got close, he suddenly grabbed her face with a painful grip. Veda cried out in pain, and her heart started pounding so hard it felt like it might burst from her chest.
Veda's hands pushed Michael's hand away from her grip. She struggled hard to free herself, tears welling up in her eyes. Pain etched across her face, and she felt her head spinning.
