"To solve this equation, we add the ten to the three, which makes it 13..."
I sighed in frustration, rolling my eyes into the back of my head, which made the teacher glare at me for a second before returning back to the blackboard and babbling on with stupid additions.
Math never failed to bore me. The room we were being taught in didn't help us students any better.
The old brick walls were identical to each other, all stacked the same.
Useless math-inspired paintings were hanging on for dear life by the tiniest drop of glue. I don't even know why teachers bothered to try and decorate this stupid room.
The wooden floor creaked under our teacher's feet as she shuffled around. Rushing from student to student, then back to the board, and then doing it all over again.
I've been sitting here for an hour now. Counting the minutes and still waiting for the rescue of the bell to deliver us from this hell of a class.
The room began to grow stuffy ages ago, but our selfish teacher didn't open a single window, no matter how hard my fellow students and I begged.
"It's too cold in here," she would say as she wrapped her tan cardigan around her thin shoulders.
Our teacher looked like every other teacher. Scrawny, average cotton shirt with loads of buttons, which she tucked into a dark green skirt that swept the floor when she walked.
Gold thin round glasses rested on the bridge of her nose. Threatening to fall off every time she looked down to scold us.
I could never contain a laugh when they actually did fall off, and she sent me straight to the corner for being such a "heartless little girl."
Tsk, she's way too dramatic.
I glanced at the big grandfather clock, which stood at the front of the classroom near the door.
Only 15 minutes to go!
I began to start counting again when suddenly I felt a sharp pain erupt from my skull.
I winced and turned around in my seat, my chair squeaking and my desk making loud noises as I turned to face the culprit.
Declan.
That boy wants a death wish, I swear.
His head was facing down, scribbling nonsense on the worksheets, trying to look distracted as if he wasn't the one who pulled my hair.
I leaned forward, placing my hands on his desk as I whispered.
"You seem very focused, Declan."
Declan raised his head, his green emerald eyes piercing through my pale blue ones.
His lips twitched into a small smile.
The type of smile that's holding back a lie.
"I am focused, very focused," he sneered.
Now that just won't do.
"Here, let me help you solve your  equation." I smiled as I grabbed his worksheet and ripped it to shreds, letting them fall gently onto his desk in front of him.
Declan just stared back. But this time his smile has faded and turned into and ugly glare.
"Ruby Gray!"
I whipped my head around to see our teacher standing right in front of my desk. Hands on her hips and eyes glaring at me.
"Yes, Miss Skinnylegs," my hands flew to my mouth as Miss Swindlelig's glare turned into a cold, icy one.
I gulped. "I mean, yes, Miss Swindleligs"
Miss Swindleligs grabbed my arms before pulling me out of the classroom and into the hallway.
You will remain out here until the class ends, she scowled before returning to the classroom. Her skirts swishing as she walked.
I rolled my eyes for what seemed liked the 100th time today.
Oh well. I didn't want to be in that stupid classroom anyway. It was too stuffy in there, unlike out here
I rested my back against the cool brick wall and closed my eyes.
Mother would be furious.
