The next morning, Mira woke bright and early and decided to take her meal with Violet Bridgerton.

Before she had left Spain, she had been well-informed, and warned, by her mother that the Dowager Viscountess was her friend. She wanted no mockery made in the Salazar nor the Bridgerton name. She wanted the Lady treated with respect and vigilance.

Mirabel did not mind, after all she was not a fiend— despite much of what her mother thought her to be now.

And beyond her mother's warnings, she wanted to make a good impression on the Bridgerton family.

They had given her days to adjust following the journey across the seas, and now she wished to properly share a meal and tea with the lady of the house.

After getting dressed for the day in a stunning violet colored dress and a crown braid around her hair, she sent Josephine to call on her through the Lady Bridgerton's maid. Then she went to the calling room, where she sat and waited.

As planned, Lady Bridgerton joined her at the breakfast table, the sun's early rays filtering through the windows, bathing the room in a warm, golden light.

Mira looked up from her tea as the woman entered, a warm smile on her face. "My Lady Bridgerton," she greeted warmly.

She is a beautiful woman, Mira thought. The soft blues of her dress bring out her eyes.

"Good morning, my dear," Lady Bridgerton greeted, taking a seat. "I hope you slept well? Had I known you were not so tired from your travels I would have called on you for a proper meal earlier."

"I slept well, indeed. I wished to learn much and more before the ball in a few days time." Mira smiled happily. "Forgive me if calling upon you for an early morning meal disrupted your morning schedule. I simply wished to know my mentor well before we head out into the Ton."

"Nonsense," Lady Bridgerton replied, waving a hand dismissively. "It's a pleasure to have you, my dear. And your eagerness to learn is admirable. Allow me to host you properly." She poured some tea into a cup and slid it toward her.

Mira thanked her with a kind word and a smile. "My mother has told me much and more about you," She began. "From what she makes of you, she holds you as a dear friend."

"Your mother and I have been friends since the crib," she said, sipping her tea. "We have grown up together and supported each other through the highs and lows of life." She leaned back in her chair, her eyes studying her curiously. "She tells me you are her most...spirited child."

Mira almost tensed, but she was as graceful as she was practiced in her mannerisms. She wouldn't let a thing slip.

"I hope my mother meant that in a good way," she played off.

She chuckled softly at her attempt to play it off, a knowing smile on her lips. "Oh, don't worry, dear. I know your mother, and I'm sure she meant it with the best possible intentions." She leaned in slightly, lowering her voice. "Though I must admit, she also mentioned some concerns about your behavior?"
