"𝐎𝐇, God. It's so hot out!" Demetri exclaimed as he leaned on Sam and rubbed his sweat from his forehead on her shoulder. "I'm sweating in places I didn't even know I had pores."
"We haven't even started yet, and I already feel like we have heat exhaustion." Maudie said as she and Logan leaned up against the tree.
"All right, guys. Get out from under that tree." Daniel called walking out of the dojo. "It's time to get to work."
"Mr. LaRusso, it's like 100 degrees out. Can't we take it easy today?"
"Are you kidding? This heatwave is a gift. Today you are going to experience Shochu-Geiko." Daniel said
"Like the car insurance?" Chris asked
"Shochu-Geiko is a Japanese exercise where you train during the hottest days of the year. It's about pushing yourself to your limit." Daniel said. "The fight isn't always going to come when it's 75 degrees and breezy."
"Aren't we supposed to avoid fighting?" Sam questioned
"Sometimes you can't." Daniel said. "Someday, the fight may come to you; and I wanna make sure you're ready so today, we're gonna see what Miyagi-Do is made of."
Daniel moved the students out front, where they stood in a circle, except Robby, and assigned each student a number. "Two!" Daniel called as Jaron, Logan's friend who had also joined Miyagi-Do threw a punch, but Robby blocked and easily took him down. Daniel nodded in approval as Robby helped him up and he moved back to the middle of the circle.
"Five!" Daniel called
Scarlett ran up from behind, and Robby turned around but he wasn't quick enough, and she kicked him in the stomach. "Got you. Sorry hon." She smiled, and Robby winked
"All right, Demetri, get in there." Daniel said, as Daniel got in the circle, and Robby patted him on the shoulder as they switched places, taking his spot next to Scarlett. "Three!"
Chris ran at Demetri and he didn't even try to block, and Chris punched him in the stomach. "Sorry, Meat." Chris apologized. "You gotta block that."
"Six!" Daniel called
Logan swept Demetri's leg. "I hate this." Demetri groaned, not even bothering to get off the ground
"All right, come on, get up." Daniel encouraged.
"Can we please take a break? Sam asked. "This heat is brutal." Maudie who leaned on Logan, pleaded, "Please, Mr. LaRusso?"
"You guys wanna cool off?" Daniel asked
"Yeah, maybe a orange cream snow cone?" Maudie asked
