brady's pov. realisation

"no! that's not what i said!" haley laughs."you said, it's a good edit which basically means you're saying i look good," i reason.
"noo it doesn't! i mean it's a good edit like the skills," she rolls her eyes.
i let up, nodding my head sarcastically. we were currently hanging out in her room after a long day of planning.
the gala was 5 days away, it's a shock how fast time flies by.
haley checks her phone for like the 20th time now before facing the screen down.
"is everything okay? that's like the millionth time you've gotten a notification," i ask her, concerned and curious.
she glances at her phone, hesitating. "it's ethan. he's been texting me nonstop and as much as i try to ignore him and block him he finds away to harrass me."
"if he does anything, tell me," i say to her. god ethan really deserves a punch in the face right now.
honestly, i found myself getting protective over haley. now we were friends and im starting to see her in that way past my crush on her. but sometimes i can't help but feel sad when she brings up ethan mostly because the whole reason we were even doing this was to get back at ethan. in the end, it was always him.
"thank you brady," she smiles, leaning forward to hug me. it surprised me at first but i wrap my arms around her, reciprocating the hug.
"omg, you know, i was tagged in so many edits today it's crazy," she tells me, dumbfounded and slightly worried?
she pulls out her phone showing them to me. my eyebrows shoot up. wow she looks good.
"isn't it weird to you? and the fact that they know where you go to school??"
"not really. but i am suprised no one has stalked me yet," i joked.
she laughs, agreeing.
i look over to the lacrosse stick that sits in the corner of the room ever since i first came here.
"do you wanna show me what you've got?" i nod over to the stick.
she looks confused, probably not realising what i was referring to before she realises.
she grabs the stick, ushering me to follow her. we go to the backyard and she makes me stand by the fence.
she goes somewhere before returning with a pool cleaning net.
"here this is your goalie stick. catch the ball when i shoot it," she explains, handing me the net.
she grips the lacrosse stick, twisting in her hands as she launches the ball. i move forward and try to catch it but completely miss.
she jumps up and cheers, causing me to chuckle. she's so cute.
she continues practicing her throw while i fail tremendously at catching it.
"okay this is harder than i thought," i admit, panting.
she shrugs, giving me an 'i told you so' look.
"you're really good hales. you should get back into lacrosse," i tell her honestly.
she smiles, looking down. she bites the inner of her cheek before looking up at me like she wanted to admit something.
"brady, i trust you. and im going to be honest with you. the real reason i don't play lacrosse anymore is because my dad passed and he was the one who taught me," she admits, softly.
i was quite suprised she opened up to me. but now i feel bad for pressuring her into it.
"thank you for trusting me,hales, i'm sorry i don't mean to push you into this if you're not ready," i say hastily.
"no,no it's alright."
then the craziest thing happened. she looks at me in a way she never down before. her eyes twinkled with something i couldn't make out but i didn't hate it i almost even loved it. her eyes were always enchanting to me as they resemble ones of a deer. she was so innocent and sweet and truly beautiful.
