mai. I couldn't take it anymore. The bet, Suna, my so-called friends—it had been gnawing at me relentlessly. Ever since that kiss, my world had tilted on its axis.

I didn't just like Suna. I was completely, irreversibly smitten. The mere thought of him made my heart race and my mind wander to places I couldn't control.

But deep down, I knew it was all wrong. I had to come clean, but first, I needed to face Himei and Yoru.

That morning, with the sun barely peeking over the horizon, I made my way to school earlier than usual. My stomach churned as I walked through the courtyard, spotting them near the fountain.

Steeling myself, I approached them with a determination I hadn't felt in a long time.

"Let's stop this." I blurted out, my voice louder than intended. It wouldn't solve everything, but it was a start.

Yoru arched an eyebrow, her lips curling into a mocking smile. "Stop what?" she asked, her tone dripping with fake innocence.

"The bet," I said, struggling to keep my voice steady. "I can't do this anymore. I don't want to keep hurting him."

Himei snickered, flipping her hair back with a dramatic flourish. "Let me guess, you caught feelings." she taunted, her eyes gleaming with mischief.

I had fallen for Suna, and I had fallen hard. But I wasn't about to give them the satisfaction of a direct answer. "I just want to end this." I insisted, clenching my fists to stop them from trembling.

"Prom is in four days," Yoru reminded me, her voice laced with amusement. "And you're giving up now?"

"I don't care about prom," I snapped, my frustration bubbling over. "You guys win the bet. I don't give a flying fuck."

Their laughter echoed in the courtyard, a cruel reminder of how trapped I felt. They didn't understand—they couldn't understand.

"Wow, you really do like him," Himei said, her voice tinged with disbelief. "Are you out of your mind?"

"I knew this was a mistake," I admitted, my voice breaking. "I never should've agreed to this stupid bet with you."

Himei and Yoru exchanged a look before bursting into another fit of laughter. "It's just hilarious how you actually fell for him!" Yoru exclaimed, shaking her head in disbelief.

Could they really be this heartless? "Whatever. I just want to tell him the truth—"

"Tell me what?" A familiar voice cut through the air, freezing me in place.

I spun around to see Suna standing there, holding a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. My heart pounded so fiercely I thought it might burst. How much had he heard?
