"You make the best coffee" Liam muttered as he took a sip from the warm cup of coffee you had made him.
You smiled at the comment and watched as he put the cup down before continuing to look through scrambled papers filled with lyrics.
He had shown you a couple earlier and had you read over them, curious to hear your opinion on his work.
The songs were filled with a variety of themes with most of them being about love. Of course, you enjoyed them, though most of the words seemed to connect to you. The person in particular mentioned in the songs was described with words matching your own description. There were even other small things mentioned like habits or things you enjoyed doing. The connections seemed to match a little too closely, with some other personal things being brought up that you had never even told Liam.
"This is a new song I wrote" Liam mumbled, pulling you out of your thoughts. He grabbed his guitar and sat down next to you. He positioned his hands over the guitar, pausing for a second before starting with a small rhythm.
He continued with the same rhythm until he finally began to sing in a soft tone. You were left in awe, as you heard the tune, his voice being angelic-like.
During the song he made sure to look at you, as if wanting you to know he had written the song for you. He wanted you to know the song was about his feelings towards you. He was just too nervous to fully come out and admit them.
Soon he came to a stop giving a small laugh and putting his guitar down.
"That was good! What encouraged you to write that?" You asked and he smiled at your compliment before looking away at your question.
"Thank you" he nodded and looked at you as if wanting to try to answer your question. He opened his mouth before closing it, hesitating with his words. "I- uh" he whispered before slightly gulping, "well, there's someone I have feelings for" he admitted and you perked up at the new information.
"Really? Who?" you asked, now being curious as to who it was. You couldn't help but be a bit nosy as you hadn't heard about him hanging out with a special someone recently.
"Someone... do you know how to play guitar?" He asked, trying to quickly change the subject.
You shrugged, "No, I've never tried"
He shakily smiled at the response, grabbing his guitar and scooting closer to you. "I can teach you, if you'd like to learn" he hummed, strumming a few notes as he spoke.
"I'd like that" you softly said causing his face to brighten in happiness.
"Alright! Just listen closely." He mumbled before strumming chords one at a time, explaining which each one was as he went.
You listened to his words, and he seemed eager to talk about guitar, clearly, it was something he enjoyed. Thought you couldn't help your mind wander, still curious as to who the mystery person was.
If only you had realized it sooner.
