Standing at Platform 9¾, Vesper was excited to be reuniting with her best friend Madeline who had gone overseas for the summer and was clearly showing signs of excitement at being able to see her again by being unable to stand still as they waited for their father.
" I can understand why you're excited Vesper, I would be excited too if I had as many friends as you did "
That immediately made Vesper frown at her younger sister, but she couldn't say anything to refute what she just said. It was no surprise that the older Lovegood sister was the more likeable popular Lovegood since she was the more normal one out of the two. She was noted to be attractive and has dated people in the past but typically it ended shortly after because they were awful people who made fun of her sister, her father or the magazine her father published.
The longest relationship she had was with a student one year her senior named Cedric Diggory, he was actually kind to Luna which was what made her grow fonder of him. However, they had grown bored of each other and mutually ended things, deciding to remain friends a few months ago.
The number of students in Hogwarts who were kind to Luna was unfortunately little so it seemed she would not be dating anyone anymore. Not a problem in her opinion especially with N.E.W.T. exams around.
" Don't say that Lulu, it's about the quality of friends you have, not the amount "
Nodding at her older sister she agreed with her and Vesper was about to change the conversation topic to something lighter until their father came back from talking to someone they didn't see and said.
" Sorry if I took too long, I was a bit busy but anywho, girls, have a good year in Hogwarts this year, try not to make too much trouble and get detention " Immediately Vesper knew this was directed at her since she sometimes found herself getting detention thanks to getting caught at the wrong time with the Weasley twins and jinxing people who were mean to Luna.
Groaning she looked at her father in frustration and said.
"It's not my fault Dad and you know that, the Weasley twins just like to rope me into their antics "
He looked at his grown teenage daughter in amusement and said. " Yes well, I suppose that is the curse of having your mother's looks, attracts people to you, which Weasley twin likes you again Vesper? "
She fumed and was about to correct her father's assumption but Luna quickly spoke up next to her. " Fred Weasley, he looks at her quite sweetly, it's rather cute "
She turned to glare at her younger sister, the traitor, but she was already lost in her own world, ignoring them. Looking focused, her father said.
" If he bothers you too much just set some nargles on him "
" Is there something that attracts nargles to people? I fear I need to sicc them on him soon "
Still looking as serious as ever, he said. " Yes they infest mistletoes, I suggest you get some and throw them around his room "
How annoying. Why did she have to go through so much to get a boy to leave her alone? Sighing, she said. " I'll take your advice Dad, but until then I think Luna and I should board the train "
Almost as if he had forgotten the gigantic scarlet train behind him, he turned towards it slightly surprised and nodded.
" Of course, don't forget to write to me, girls "
Giving him tight hugs, the pair parted from their father and got on the train, looking around the train to see most of the compartments filled.
" Do you want to sit with me Lulu? "
