I tried to call Selene the moment I landed in Milan but she did not answer so I tried calling Annie. While it is usual for Selene to not answer messages or calls even from me, it's unusual for Annie. So, I called Dimitri. Still no answer.
I figured they might be busy. For sure she or Annie would call or message once they're free. Aside from a briefing, I have the rest of the day off, so I messaged Carlos to check if he's landed. We have a full day tomorrow with a lot of media events so I sent them both a message to say I might be the one unable to answer tomorrow should they call.
*** During the briefing, Carlos asked him if he was able to speak with Selene.
"Lando, did you speak with Selene today?" He asked
"No. We spoke briefly yesterday before I flew and I'm actually wondering why she hasn't called"
"Victoria flew to Los Angeles because of an emergency. I'm sure if its Selene she will call you as soon as she lands"
"Fuck mate, what emergency? is it Selene?" I asked with shock and worry evident in my voice.
"I don't know mate. Victoria was quite shaken and was rushing when she called me to say she's flying to the US because of an emergency."
I picked up my phone to check if Selene called me and saw nothing. I tried to Facetime her again but her phone is now unreacheable
I sent her a text: "babe, pls call me. I'm worried. Love you"
*** Carlos and I were having dinner with our respective teams when my phone rang. It was Victoria. I stood up to answer the call.
"Are you with Selene. Please tell me what's happening" i said without even giving Victoria the chance to say hello.
"Lando...please calm down." Victoria said in her most serious tone.
"Uhuh...okay... please..."
"You know that Selene met up with Patrick yesterday right?"
" yeah... Victoria.... Please... what's happening?" I begged
"We didn't know that he's been mentally unstable and so he caused a commotion and tried to force Selene to get back with him"
"That bastard...did he hurt her? Where is Selene?"
"The situation was averted by Annie and the police but...Selene...she took a bullet to the shoulder. Annie was able to shield her but it wasn't enough"
"Fuck...fuck... is she okay? Please tell me she's okay. Victoria, please and Annie is Annie okay?" My voice cracking out of worry
"We're already at the hospital. They were able to take the bullet out of Selene but she's still in recovery. She is stable and it's when she wales up that worries me. You know this...Annie's still in surgery since she took more shots shielding Selene" Victoria lamented. Of course she's referring to Selene's past trauma being caught in the crossfire of a failed assassination of their father, Stavros Latsis.
"I know. i know. I'll try to fly there as soon as I can. If you are busy taking care of things, can you ask one of the guys to update me?" I said knowing that Victoria might be occupied with everyhing that needed to be attended to with Selene, after what just happened
"I will. Don't worry Lando. She's a tough woman. She'll get through this. Hey, are you with Carlos? Can I speak with him if he's not busy?"
"Thank you. I'll pass the phone to him."

He and Carlos finished all their media obligations and were picked up by the Latsis private jet.
Good thing they have two more weeks before the start of the Asia leg of the races. Fred gave me one week to be with Selene before I fly back to prepare for Singapore. He gave Carlos the same time off so he can be with Victoria and then also check on their children before preparing for Singapore.
We landed in LA in the wee hours of the morning and we both went straight to the hospital. Victoria had the whole floor cordoned off with security heavily guarding a private elevator.
The moment Victoria laid eyes on Carlos as we were escorted to the private suite where she's staying, she ran towards him. They are indeed an epitome of love.
"My love, come here" Carlos said while pulling Victoria into a tight hug and kissing her forehead
Victoria broke the long hug but kept her arm around Carlos. She faced me to talk about Selene.
"She's inside, Lando. Still sedated but you can see her now. Our mum's inside."
I nodded and saw Kit, Victoria's security, by the door.
The moment i entered the massive suite, I saw Selene and Victoria's mum, Catherine.

I gave her a hug before asking how Selene is doing "How is she?"
"She's recovering but is still heavily sedated from the operation. Thank God you were able to come. It would help her when she wakes up to have you here" Catherine said while holding my hand
"Yeah. She must have been terrified by everything." I replied, imagining what it must have been like for Selene.
"She was and thank heavens Annie was with her" Catherine said "Annie saved her life."
"How was Annie? Was Patrick arrested?" I asked, totally forgetting about the bastard that started all these.
"Annie just got out of the operating table. She took two bullets to shield Selene. Stavros is on top of ensuring Patrick pays for his crime. He was obssesed with Selene and has been mentally unstable for the past two years." she shared with a deep sigh before holding on to his shoulders
"Anyway, I'll leave you for now. I need to check on Annie and speak with Victoria. Just call the nurse when she wakes, will you?"
"Thanks, Catherine. I'll take care of her."
**** I held my breath the moment I saw Selene sleeping. She looked beautiful despite everything she went through the past two days. I was worried about her but now that he's here, his worries were lessened by the fact that Selene is alive.
He walked towards her and sat on the chair beside her bed. He reached for her hand and kissed her palm
"Babe. I'm here now." He whispered.
It was not until 2 hours later that Selene woke up from the anesthesia.
"ANNIEEE!!! He shot Annie! Where's Annie?" She screamed and I rushed to her side to calm her down.
"Shhhh...baby...hey...calm down. Annie's okay. Annie's alive. Sssshhhhhh..." I whispered to her ear after I grabbed her head to bring it closer to my face as I sat next to her.
"Lando...he shot Annie..." as she moved and grimaced through the pain of the bulletwound on her right shoulder.
She burried her face into my chest and started crying.
"yes, and Annie's going to be fine. Relax baby..." I assured her.
I have seen Selene in many vulnerable moments but this is the most vulnerable I have seen her. It pains me to see her like this. I would give anything to take her pain and fear away.
