This is the blanket for the baby.
(This is a song if you would like to listen while reading. It is a lullaby for young children and babies. I thought it might be fitting in this chapter.)
One and half years later
In the Ruby Palace, there lay a woman on a king-sized mattress bed giving birth to her first child. Right beside the bed lay a fully grown lioness. Many people surrounded the woman. Three noble ladies were standing next to the woman as they placed wet towels on her head to cool her body or offering her reassurances.
However, the most unusual sight for the maids and doctor was the presence of the three noble ladies who were part of Emperor Claude's harem, not the presence of a lioness. It was a known fact that the concubines viewed the other concubines as competition for the title of Empress and their child as the next heir of the Obelian empire.
Despite the animosity, the noblewomen had in the Ruby Palace for each other; Aadalia and the three women develop a friendship. Their names were Luna, Eliza, and Audrey.
"Sister, my hand. It hurts," Liam pleaded. His hand was turning red due to her sister's death-tight grip.
Sweat glistened on Aadalia's forehead. It came with being in labor for five hours so far.
Liam was faced with his sister's hardened stare. "You're hurt! I am the one in labor," Aadalia shouted as she screamed when another contraction hit her.
"Aadalia, calm down," a young noblewoman frantically exclaimed. "What would I do if you perish..."
The young woman looked to Aadalia with glistening blue eyes. "Without you, how else could I be a godmother!" Aadalia gave her friend an amused smile.
She had black hair-dark as night, and she had bright blue eyes. She dramatically kneeled on her friend's bedside as she began to let tears fall in her eyes. Her hair was held in a loose ponytail and tied together with a golden hair ornament. She was wearing a red and white kimono with golden slippers.
Aadalia gave a tired sigh, and she closed her eyes. "I'm giving birth, not dying, Luna" she closed her eyes as she tried to gather her patience to not yell at the young woman. She knew how Luna reacts with yelling.
Luna nodded as she sniffled. No one would know just by looking, but the young woman wearing a white and red kimono was a master with the sword. On a battlefield, she had a scary aura and can bring a tough fight to the legendary Crismon blood knight.
Another noblewoman came up and slapped Liam's head. "She'll be fine if this idiot wasn't so self-centered."
"Hey," Liam yelled as he faced a young woman. She had bright blonde hair and golden eyes. She hid her smirk behind a black fan as she faces Liam's angered face.
"Why are you even here? You hate children!" Liam shouted at the blond noblewoman.
"I may admit that children are not becoming to me, but this child is not just a child. This baby is my friend's child and first child of the sun of the Obelian Empire," Audrey cooly reply.
Liam shook his head. "Well, you should know that I would not let you be near my niece or nephew. You will be a bad influence to them."
Audrey narrowed her eyes. "I doubt it. You are not the parent. I believe what you say is meaningless. Besides, I am a positive influence on the young generation," she replied.
Liam gave another yell as he ran to his sister's side to beg her not to let Audrey be near the child. Aadalia quickly shot down that idea as Audrey gave a smile and gave a good-natured laugh at the crestfallen face Liam had.
