Udaipur was founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the new capital of the Mewar Kingdom. It is located in the fertile, circular Girwa Valley to the southwest of Nagda, which was the first capital of Mewar.

Amaya sat on the balcony of her hotel room as she sipped her morning tea. She wore a beautiful dark blue saree. Her identity was the Kajal around her eyes, a nose pin, and a little black bindi between her eyebrows. Her hazel eyes looked prettier while being draped in black kohl. The jhumkas were hanging from her ears. Her wavy and long hair was set free. She liked being draped in a saree on most days but loved wearing kurta sets as much. She grew up in a conservative family, her parents believed in traditions, and she loved following them as well. She never tried to change herself because she loved her roots dearly.

Her eyes wandered on the lake, capturing its beauty. She could see some of the boats filled with travellers moving through the water and disturbing its calmness. A gentle smile was playing on her lips as she hummed a song.

"Hum tum kitne paas hai kitne dur hai chaand sitare..."

She held her smile back and looked aside when Kanishka settled in the chair next to hers. "Don't just sing romantic songs but find someone, maybe?" She asked.

Amaya chuckled while putting the cup on the round table between them. Kanishka was no different than her. She looked beautiful in the wine-coloured kurta set. Her hair was straight with a middle partition. A bindi rested on her forehead while round earrings went well with the whole look. She also belonged to a joint traditional South Indian family like Amaya, but her parents were more open.

Being part of a middle-class family filled her with the responsibilities of a household from a young age. She felt a bit relieved today that she was free from some of those responsibilities, at least as her little sister was married off as well. Now, it was just her and her parents. She made her stand on her feet, and now she was starting her new life with someone else.

"I am fine on my own, Kanu. You find someone first. It's your sister who got married, not mine," Amaya mumbled. Kanishka made a face. "I don't need any man. They all are good for nothing," She said. Amaya chuckled as her gaze moved over the water one more time.
