I flipped through the pages again, hoping to find more of Anneliese's story, but it seemed that the book had come to an abrupt end. There were no more words, no more pages to turn. I felt a pang of disappointment. Why did it end this way? Was there more to the story that I wasn't aware of? Perhaps there were missing pages somewhere, lost in time or intentionally removed. Whatever the reason, I couldn't help but feel a sense of longing for closure.
I set the book aside and lay back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Anneliese's journey had left me with mixed feelings. She had ended up back in the same cult she tried to escape from, and there was no hint of a happy ending for her. It made me ponder about life and its unpredictability. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, things don't turn out the way we hope.
Turning to the other side, I glanced at Hame sleeping peacefully beside me. A smile crept onto my face as I watched him, his features relaxed in slumber. It was rare to see him so calm. I wondered what he was dreaming about, what thoughts were playing out in his mind.
"Y/n," he murmured suddenly, his voice soft and barely audible. It was just a whisper, as if he was calling out to someone in his dream. I couldn't help but smile at the sound of my name on his lips.
What was he dreaming about? I could only wonder, letting the quiet of the room envelop us both.
The next morning, I sat at the table for breakfast, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. Hame sat across from me, sipping his coffee and looking at me with curiosity.
"So, are you heading somewhere today?" Hame asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
"Yes, I was thinking that I should go visit my mother while I'm here," I replied, stirring my tea absentmindedly.
"How about I drive you there?" he offered, his tone casual but his eyes earnest.
"That's nice and all, but I think I should go alone," I said, not wanting to bother him with my personal matters.
"I don't have anything to do anyway. Besides, it's a bit too far to walk, and taxis are too expensive—if you can even find one willing to go there," he said, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Fine, we'll leave after breakfast," I conceded. I saw him sigh, a frown on his face along with a tint of red on his cheeks.
"A simple thank you would be appreciated," he said, shaking his head.
"You should thank me for letting you take me there," I replied plainly.
"You sure haven't changed a single bit," he said, rolling his eyes.
After breakfast, we drove off to the hospital. The drive was quiet, the road winding through the countryside. It didn't take too long for us to reach the place, though we had to wait for a while for the huge gate to open. Even after getting through the gate, we had to drive for another twenty minutes to reach the hospital. I never understood why my father needed such a large estate for a hospital. He could have at least built it closer to town. I'll honestly never understand my father.
We finally arrived at the hospital, and I stretched my arms, tired of sitting in the car.
"I'll wait for you in the car. Take as much time as you need," Hame said, leaning back in his seat.
"Don't worry, I won't take too long. I just need to check on her and make sure my father hasn't done anything crazy," I said. But before I could open the door, I noticed a group of people wearing full black robes, one of them with red accents.
"Who the hell are they?" Hame asked in confusion, his eyes narrowing.
I sighed. "Looks like my father is back at it again," I said, pinching the bridge of my nose in frustration.
