Chapter 23: Jackson Family Honours

4 days later, it was February 5th and at the MGM Grand, a recently opened Hotel & Casino as it opened 2 months prior and was built on the site of the old Marina Hotel, there was a former MGM Grand that turned into Bally's in 1986 and on that night, the Jackson Family Honors was being held there at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as Michael, decked out in a black jacket with a red armband on the right sleeve, black slacks and loafers and Cameron was wearing a black suit with a red shirt, Andrew was in a tuxedo as Lisa and Meredith were wearing multi colored dresses.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, from the MGM grand hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Welcome to the Jackson Family Honors!"

Applause was heard as several dancers rappelled from the ceiling with some more coming from backstage and started dancing to songs like "Can You Feel It", "ABC (O.P.P. beat)", "Billie Jean", "Control", "What Have You Done For Me Lately", "I Want You Back" and "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)"

"Please welcome The Jackson Family!" The announcer said as the screen opened and coming on the stage were Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, LaToya, Marlon, Randy, the kids and with the exception of Michael, Janet and Cameron as Janet was preparing for her performance and Cameron was preparing for his as well. Once they made a space, Joseph and Katherine came out before the two headed to their seats.

The first performance was Janet singing 'All Right', Louis Gossett Jr talked about the Jackson family before he introduced Another Bad Creation, who performed their 1991 hit Iesha.

Paul Rodriguez Sr came out and did his stand up comedy which made everybody laugh before Louis introduced Celine Dion, who performed The Power of Love originally recorded by Jennifer Rush

Weird Al Yankovic performed Eat It and Fat with his touring band Jim West, Steve Jay, Rubén Valtierra and John "Bermuda" Schwartz and during Fat, Santa Claus, who is Tito in disguise came on the stage and tripped much to the amusement of everybody as Joseph and Katherine howled with laughter.

"Tito made that look good." Rebbie remarked.

"That he did." Marlon stated.

"There's a pretty good chance Tito'll hit the buffet." Randy joked.

"Really?" Jermaine raised his eyebrow.

After Weird Al's performance, it was now time for Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Randy and their kids to hit the stage with the kids singing Goin' Back to Indiana and the Jackson siblings singing 2300 Jackson Street with Jermaine, Rebbie and Tito singing Michael's line.

Luther Vandross sung Never Too Much and A House is Not A Home and performing after him was Whitney Houston, who did The Greatest Love of All, Saving All My Love For You, I Will Always Love You and I'm Every Woman and for I'm Every Woman, she brought out Chaka Khan who sung I'm Every Woman originally in 1978. Next after them was Bruce Hornsby and after Bruce, Mariah Carey sung Vision of Love, Emotions, Make It Happen, Dreamlover and Hero before Louis came back out.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming the next generation of musical excellence. Tonight, we have a special treat for you. A young talent who carries on the legacy of one of the greatest entertainers the world has ever known. Performing with his Uncles tonight, please give a warm welcome to Cameron Jackson!" Louis introduced.

The crowd erupts in applause as the stage goes dark, then the first notes I Want You Back sounded as the lights came back on and Cameron, who was decked out in a black short sleeved button down with a white crewneck shirt, black slacks with a white stripe on the sides and loafers, Jermaine had his bass guitar and Tito had his guitar and they began singing I Want You Back, next was ABC, after that was The Love You Save and next was I'll Be There as Cameron sung his father's lines in the songs and Cameron's singing voice was a surprisingly mature and soulful sound, with a hint of raspiness that added depth and emotion to the lyrics. He sang with a natural ease and rhythm as everybody loved it, then next was Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)
