When we arrive we check in and go to the gate. Finally we are allowed to board the plane and take off. We arrive after a 3 hour flight. I'm going home by taxi. I arrive at my apartment. I'm looking for my key. I expected Alex to be asleep already because it was already the middle of the night. I open the door and see that the light is still on. I step inside and see Alex sitting at the table. Alex barely looks at me and avoids eye contact. He takes a deep sigh.
"Lily" are his first words. His voice was cold and hard.
"I saw you on TV, cuddling with Lewis," he says, still not looking at me.
"Alex, it really didn't mean anything" I say in a soft voice.
"You expect me to believe this? How long has this been going on? Lily, I'm not stupid!" he says. His voice trembled with anger.
"Alex... Listen to me" I say half crying while Alex straightens up. "He just wanted to celebrate his win," I say. Alex couldn't calm down anymore.
"I'm done with it, you made a fool of me in front of everyone" He slammed his fist into the wall, making me jump and take a step back.
"I...had no idea it came across like that" I say in a scared voice. He turns to me. His eyes were completely red with anger.
"Get out of here," he says in a calm voice.
"But... I"
"Pack your things and leave" he shouted at me. With shaking hands I grab a change of clothes. When I have everything I go towards the door where Alex was standing. I step outside without saying anything else, Alex closes the door.
I didn't know where to go. Then I realized there was only one person who understood me. Lewis. The only problem is that I'm in Belgium and he's in Monaco. I book the next best flight to Monaco. Take a taxi to the airport, check in and wait at the gate. Finally the plane arrives. On the plane I think about everything that happened. The breakup with Alex and how he reacted had completely thrown me off. After a 1.5 hour flight I arrive in Monte-Carlo. It was already early in the morning. I'm heading towards Lewis's apartment. I'm standing in front of Lewis's door. My heart is in my throat as I raise my finger to the bell. What if he gets angry? What if he sends me away? but I had no other choice. I ring the bell. He opens the door. His eyes widen in surprise when he sees me
"Lily, what are you doing here?" he asks in surprise. Tears flow freely in my eyes.
"Sorry, I didn't know where else to go, Lewis." I say in a shaking voice. Lewis pulls me into a warm embrace.
"Come in," he says softly. I relax a bit inside his apartment. I tell him everything that had happened in the past few hours.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through all this, you're always welcome here." he says in a soft and reassuring voice. His words gave me a sense of relief.
"I'm glad you came. Don't worry, you can stay here as long as you want, we'll find a solution" he says while smiling at me. He had offered me his bed. I was very tired so I went to sleep even though it was morning. I put on my pajamas. Just an oversized shirt and then I go to sleep.
I wake up. I see Lewis lying next to me, I ignore it. I look at my phone to see the hour and see that it's already the next day. It was still early in the morning but I decided to get up anyway. I'm going to the toilet first. When I come from the toilet I see that Lewis was also awake. We sit down at the dining table and have breakfast. I look at my phone, but I still don't see a message from Alex with his apologies. I try not to get too caught up in it. I chat with Lewis and continue eating my breakfast. After breakfast I go to the bathroom and shower. Then I get dressed and do my makeup, then I start my work. Fortunately I could work via the computer. I don't do much else for the rest of the day.
