PETER WAS SOON sitting shirtless on the bedroom floor and Gwen was yet to return.
He was leaning against the end of my bed, wincing every so often as I lightly dabbed at his wounds, doing my best to clean and treat them.
"These are so bad, Pete." I muttered as he let out a large exhaled groan. Then I stopped for a moment and he looked up at me.
Slowly he started sitting up and his face moved closer to mine, his lips grazing my own.
"Easy, Bug Boy." I spoke against his lips, and he laughed breathily.
"What'd you call me?" He asked, turning his head a little before one of his hands came up to the side of my own. His head slowly made its way to the opposite side of my head, and he whispered, once his mouth was right below my ear, "I'm going to be alright."
Then his lips made their way to my neck and I let out a sigh.
"Peter." I mumbled, pulling back a little.
"Yes." He kept kissing down my neck.
"Just one second, Peter." I pulled away and he lifted his head. "Peter."
"Y/N." He whispered my name back, pressing his forehead against my own.
"If we're gonna do this." I gestured between the two of us. "We're gonna have one rule."
"Mmm?" He looked into my eyes with an innocent smile.
"I need you to always come back to me." I told him and he pulled his head away from mine to properly look at my face.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, my dad went out to work one day and he never came back. Every single day, when Gwen's dad leaves for work, I worry the same thing will happen to him." I sighed and leaned closer to Peter. "I don't want to worry that it's going to happen to you. You need to always come back."
"Hey," He whispered and held the sides of my face in his hands. "I got you. Okay?"
I let one of my hands move up to his hair and brush it back from his forehead.
"I gotta stop him, though." Peter said, stroking my cheek with his thumb. "I have to, because I created him."
"What do you mean? Created him?" I questioned.
"I gave him an equation... that made all of this possible." Peter shook his head. "Something my father had been working on, you know. Secretly. Now I realize why he kept it a secret. Point is, this is my responsibility. I have to fix it."
He brought his hand up to my cheek and I leaned into it.
"Peter." I whispered his name and looked down at his wounds.
"Hey." He lifted my chin so my eyes were looking into his own. "Let's get out of here. Let's just get out of here."
I almost laughed at the way he shook his head around as he spoke before leaning in to my lips again.
"Just for a minute. Can we?"
"No."
"Yeah."
"No." I insisted.
"Yes. Yes." He stated.
"No."
"Yes."
"Peter, I'm supposed to be asleep right now. They'll kill me if they see me leaving." I told him leaning close to his face and he started to smile again.
"Well, they're not gonna see you leaving."
I started to go back to dabbing at his wounds with the cloth in my hands when he nodded towards the window in the bedroom.
"No." I continued to clean him up.
"Come on, please?"
"What if you drop me? Or if I fall?" I asked, thinking about the height of the building we were in, and all the surrounding buildings.
And if he was going to swing us around with his webs, oh, God.
"I won't let you fall." He told me, brushing his nose against my own. "I'll catch you if you fall, baby."
I smiled at the nickname. "I like that."
"Yeah?" He leaned in closer, and I could feel his warm breath against my face.
"Yeah." I whispered and he kissed me again.
"Alright, come on." He pulled away from the kiss and started to work on lifting himself up off the ground, which he did with ease despite his injuries. "We'll be back in just a minute, I promise. And I won't drop you."
"Fine." I sighed and stood up, which made him smile and we walked over to the window.
