--Staff Room--

"You called me here for such a trivial matter?" Emily's mother laughs before glaring at YN.

The interaction between Emily's mother and YN is layered with tension. "Look, Emily is simply following my orders. What's wrong with telling my daughter to stay away from Eva? That girl is growing up without her mother. God knows if her father is teaching her basic manners or not. So to safeguard Emily, I advise her to maintain her distance from Eva."

Mrs. D'Souza's demeanor shifted as she leaned closer, her voice tinged with a mix of shock and sympathy. "You know what, Eva's mother ran away with another man. And all this happened in front of my eyes. I feel bad for Eva's father. Poor guy must have trusted his wife blindly."

YN frowns and then raises an eyebrow. "How do you know all this? Are you keeping a watch on Eva's father?"

Mrs. D'Souza smirks and says, "Well he is a man on whom any women would like to keep a watch on. But sadly I can't do that. I am married. Actually Mr. Jeon is my neighbour."

She sighs, "Anyway let's come to the point. Miss YN see to it that my daughter stays away from Eva. My daughter shouldn't get spoiled."

YN laughed and leaned back in her chair. "I called you here to knock some sense into your brain, but you've made me think it's useless to talk to people like you. I think you're right-Emily shouldn't be friends with Eva. And you know what? Unfortunately, even with a mother, Emily will grow up to be a mannerless person, just like her mother, who is only good at mocking others."

Mrs. D'Souza clenches her jaw, visibly displeased by YN's retort. "As a teacher, you should learn some manners too."

YN smiles, "Although I hold respect for etiquette and decorum, interactions with people like you often challenge the limits of my patience."

Mrs. D'Souza rolls her eyes and rises from her seat. "If you're done, I'll leave."

"Please!" YN motions towards the door.

Mrs, D'Souza stomp on her feet and left the staff room.

As Mrs. D'Souza stomped out of the staff room in a fit of frustration, YN's colleagues exchanged concerned glances, unsure of how to diffuse the tension. In contrast, YN, visibly distressed by the conversation she just had with Mrs. D'Souza. She closed her eyes and gently massaged her temples, trying to maintain her composure. The weight of Mrs. D'Souza's disparaging remarks about Eva's mother lingered in the air, causing a palpable unease among the staff members.

--Timeskip--

YN, walking down the corridor towards the staffroom, happened to glance into Eva's classroom. There, she observed Eva seated at her desk, engrossed in writing. Moved by a sudden impulse, YN decided to enter the classroom.

Inquisitively, YN remarked, "You chose not to go out to the playground today?" Expressing her surprise at finding Eva alone in the classroom during what seemed like a break time for the students.

Eva paused for a moment, looked up with a calm expression, and replied, "I just felt like staying back and finishing up some work. It's so peaceful here." YN nodded in understanding and took a seat on a chair infront of her table.

"But still you should go out and have some fun." YN suggested.

"Nobody will play with me. So what's the use of going on to the ground?" Eva questioned.

The smile on YN's face faded away. She slowly grabbed Eva's hand and said, "Eva, I know we all need friends in our lives. But being alone is better than having a fake friend. You know, when I was in school, I also didn't have friends. I used to beg people to be my friends."

Eva closed the book and listened attentively to YN. "Really?"

YN nods, "I made 2-3 friends in school, and they all used to make fun of me. I used to laugh at their jokes about me. I was so desperate to have friends that I let them disrespect me."

"You shouldn't have let them disrespect you," Eva said in a worried tone.

"I know, right? But I needed friends, and that's why I let them treat me like trash." YN holds Eva's hands firmly. "Eva, having no friends is okay, but losing your self-respect is not. Trust me, if you learn to enjoy your own company, you will slowly start getting everyone's attention."

Eva lowers her head. "You're right. But I don't think I'll be able to enjoy my own company. I really need a friend."

YN releases Eva's hand. "What are you doing, YN? She's just a small kid. The things you're telling her are too much for her to understand at this age."

YN smiled warmly and gently lifted Eva's chin with her index finger, meeting her eyes with sincerity. "Eva, I will be your friend," she said with conviction.

"What?" Eva looked at YN in surprise. "Y- You're ready to be my friend?"
