after we stopped talking
i stopped taking care of myself
because
who was i supposed to look pretty for?
who was i taking my makeup off for at night
if nobody was gonna see me in the morning anyway?
who was i supposed to answer
if there was no text from you?
and in a way it is pathetic
because you never promised me anything
but i would still go hours at a time
just staring at my phone
waiting for you to reply.
you never did.
