Note: After years, I've played this game for myself (now that im older and can afford it,, and a working laptop). I would say this is the last chapter but im fixated on it again so who knows?
Context: You are an RK android paired up with Connor and Hank to make investigations faster. This takes place in the early segment of DBH.
_______
It was a rainy day as Connor and you sat in the car. It was quiet as you two didn't have much to discuss other than the ongoing mission - and Hank was outside ordering something from a stand. You couldn't scan from here as the rain obscured the window with its droplets. Connor was messing around with a coin, seemingly knowing where it would go without looking.
Connor was always a superior model to you, even though you are a new prototype - you only have half the stuff Connor can do. You were quickly produced as a second thought so investigations could be sooner than later. It didn't bug you in any way, as you couldn't and it was factual. You admired him in some way like a boss and a new hire.Connor opened the door out of the car to see what Hank was up to and of course, you followed suit. He looked back a bit to see you hop out, "You should stay inside, I'm sure this will only be a moment." He sounds firm and insistent, but all you did was look at him. "I assume you won't" He was met with silence, and his shoulders dropped a little in a gesture of defeat. "Come on." With a forward gesture, you followed behind him.
"Well if it isn't Thing 1 and Thing 2." Hank didn't sound too pleased to have both of you here, one was already enough. "What the, 2 of them?" The guy inside the truck commented as Hank grunted. "Don't bother. Both of them follow me as soon as I leave." The old man did just that and of course, as soon as he moved Connor followed and you followed suit. "See?"
You 3 got under the umbrella to avoid the rain as much as you could. You stood around them to make a triangular formation and listened to their conversation. "That burger has twice the calories of a regular burger, that doesn't appear healthy for you." Hank rolled his eyes as he ate the over-stuffed sandwich, " I have to enjoy my life somehow, even if it kills me." He continued to munch on it until he got a call. "Ugh.." Hank took a minute before picking it up. "You two say here.. uh... have a conversation or something." He took his burger and went further away.It was just you two now.
Android doesn't have things to talk about, they aren't programmed to make any contact so personal. But since it was an indirect order from Hank, Connor started talking. "You seem to have an observant personality for an RK. You don't talk much." You blinked at him, it was the only thing you could do. "Did Cyberlife program you this way?" He sounded more curious than firm. You opened your mouth, " I was rushed while being created, I don't have as much programming as you do. Only the important stuff such as analyzing and identifying."
He stood there quietly, as his program determined what he should say. But it seems like he was thinking, as his LED turned yellow and then blue. " What are you made for?" You watched him, "I have the equivalent mission of a police dog. To sniff out anything you've missed." You looked off into nothing and thought of .. nothing. Connor was in thought and decided to do something to connect to you more. It was a little personal, but it didn't look to hurt you. You weren't built with a reactionary program.
"Give me your hand." Connor reached out in a direct but hesitant way. You looked at his hand, and you obeyed stretching out your hand to interact with him. The skin on your hand dispersed to show its true android form, Connor did the same and as the proximity of the both of you closed - the lights on the connected parts glowed. There was nothing to it, but the longer it stayed the more.. flustered you were about it.
It felt personal, in some Android way. His hand touching yours and the built-in warmth it seemed to come with. Your LED turned from blue to yellow flickers as it felt like something was changing in you. You started to.. feel. You always admired Connor and his ability to be so firm and soft at the same time in situations. The blood in your cords flowed to your face, simulating some blush as you pulled away quickly. Connor blinked in shock as the both of you stared at each other.
You grabbed your hand and rubbed your skin back to its place. "What was that.. what did you do?" Connor cocked his head to one side in confusion, "I tinkered with your software a bit to fill in the gaps. You'll need to have a reaction set when things get tougher on our mission." You looked at your hand. It felt funny, a tingling sensation like his hand was still there. You glanced at his hand. You wanted that feeling again. You want.. You wanted something..?
Your LED turns red, you aren't supposed to want or need anything. Something is wrong.Connor notices but before he can press the issue Hank comes back. You go back to normal to resume looking professional. "What the hell happened here? You look like you did something wrong" He looks at you with a raised eyebrow, but you kept composer. " Nothing Lieutenant. Connor just informed me of our mission is all." The other android gave you a look.
You lied.
He didn't tell you anything.
"Well whatever it is, we gotta go. Something happened at a house near here and we have to go. Now." He walked to the car and you two followed. It was a silent ride, as you looked at that hand again while touching it with your other. Androids aren't built to feel or have emotions beyond what the person they were assigned to wanted. But for once, you felt something but couldn't reach it. Something was blocking you, and you couldn't figure it out. Connor watched you from the rearview mirror.
Something is happening to you and he's going to figure it out. He can't risk having a deviant partner.
