avalon hesitantly made her way back to the car where jeremiah was. she'd rather die than deal with him right now.

"is he coming?" jere asked. avalon shook her head no.

"well, he can't go anywhere without his car, and they have to be moved out of their dorms tonight, so... he'll come back." jere reassured.

avalon ignored him and went to sit in the open trunk of the car. she was contemplating on what to do next. she just wanted to go home and curl up into a ball under the blankets of her bed. this was the last thing she wanted to deal with.

"you know he's mad at me, not you, right?" jeremiah leaned against the back of the car.

she rolled her eyes, "you weren't there. trust me, he's pissed at me too."

"but you didn't do anything..." he had a confused look on his face, which then turned to sadness at the reminder she rejected him.

she exhaled heavily, "he thinks we kissed, jere. i tried to tell him that nothing happened but he wouldn't believe me."

he sat down next to her, but not close. he knew she needed space. "we have his car and his keys. he'll be back here eventually, and i'll talk to him."

she nodded her head and kept her eyes on everything else but him.

the two sat there in utter silence before they heard someone walking up to the car.

"excuse me." conrad came up to the car with boxes in hand. jere and av moved out of the way so he could put everything in the trunk. "so you guys ready to go or not?"

he was acting as if nothing had happened. he was completely oblivious all of a sudden.

"we didn't know if you were coming." jeremiah cleared his throat.

"i promised fiona i'd get avie home."

jeremiah hesitated and went for the keys in his pocket. "uh, here, you can drive."

"no. no." he shook his head frantically, "i don't think i trust myself behind the wheel right now."

avalon's eyes widened at his words.

"i didn't get much sleep last night. relax." he chuckled, patting jere on the chest while he walked past him.

jeremiah looked at avalon. he could tell in her eyes she was not about to get into that car until he set the record straight. he went over to the back seat where conrad was.

"hey, man."

"what's up?" conrad questioned.

jeremiah squinted his eyes at his brother. this clueless act of his was pissing him off.

"alright, knock it off conrad. you can be pissed at me but not at avalon. she didn't do anything. if it makes you feel any better, she rejected me."

conrad was silent. he didn't even have time to respond since jeremiah slammed the car door on him.

as they drove off, it was still silent. conrad hated being wrong, and avalon knew it. she had a feeling that he would continue being a dick for the remainder of the car ride because he wouldn't admit he's wrong in front of jeremiah. if it were just him and av, things would be different.

avalon pulled her book out and continued reading. music was playing in the background from the radio. conrad was drumming his hands on the back of avalon and jeremiah's seats. it was pissing them off, but they both tried ignoring it.

"avie, if you keep reading that you're gonna throw up." conrad told her. he knew she was always one to get motion sickness, especially in cars. the motion sickness was probably all in her head most times, but it didn't change the fact that it made her nauseas, and she absolutely hated throwing up.
