Amira couldn't stop staring. The sky was more vibrant than she had ever imagined, reflected in her brown eyes that seemed to brighten in the light emitted by the sun. Amira had never in her life ever dreamed about ever witnessing the beauty of Earth, content with the view of the stars she had on The Ark. Reality was that her station on The Ark ensured she'd never acquire such a privilege. Yet, here she is.
She breathes deeply, the air crisp and filled with the scent of pine and wildflowers. The rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze is a symphony to her ears, a stark contrast to the mechanical hum of The Ark.
"Can you believe it?" Jazira's voice breaks her trance, and Amira turns to see her friend equally awestruck. "We're really here."
Amira stares at her friend in shock for several moments, taking in Jazira's striking appearance- her sandy blonde hair tousled and falling into her face, giving her a slightly wild, untamed look. Her hazel eyes, flecked with green, are sharp and expressive, often alight with curiosity or mischief. Fair skin, adorned with a few freckles across her nose and cheeks, adds to her youthful appearance. Jazira's features include high cheekbones, a slightly pointed chin, and a strong, straight nose. Her lips are full, often set in a determined line, but quick to break into a mischievous grin. Amira stares at Jazira, her brow furrowed and lips pursed in disbelief. The audacity of her friend's remark hangs in the air like an unexpected punchline. Then her face broke into a grin, "guess all those Earth skills classes paid off."
And it was as if nothing had ever happened, they hadn't killed a boy and spent the last two years in isolation, separated.
Jazira laughed, the sound ringing out in the open air, free and unrestrained. "We survived that, we can survive anything."
Amira nodded, a seed of hope blooming within her. Despite the fact they are on the ground and the chances of their survival are slim, Amira was excited. The past was behind them, and now they have a chance to start fresh, to live in a world they had only dreamed about.
Their moment of reverie was interrupted by the sound of Clarke's voice calling out. "Everyone, gather around! We need to set some ground rules."
As the hundred assembled, Clarke began outlining plans for survival: finding food, water, and building shelters. Bellamy stood beside her, arms crossed, his authoritative presence undeniable.
"We're not on the Ark anymore," Bellamy declared. "We make our own rules now."
Amira noticed the tension in the group. Some seemed eager to embrace their newfound freedom, while others looked uncertain and fearful. Among the crowd, she spotted Nadezhda and Mireille standing together, looking around with wide eyes. They both had grown so much.
