Return To Me, My Love

A thousand years.

A thousand years Niklaus spent without his dearest wife, Sjöfn. A thousand years she has been on the brink of death in a dangerously powerful slumber. A thousand years of life she's missed out on.

A thousand years that Niklaus has failed to save her...

Klaus stood in a room with Hayley and her werewolf husband, Jackson, discussing plans regarding the whereabouts of his alleged long lost sister, Freya.

"Finn and the woman who calls herself my sister are somewhere in the city. The wolves can help find them," Klaus spoke. He was pacing anxiously. Hayley was concerned for how much his paranoia had heightened in the past weeks.

"No, we need all hands on deck here with Hope," Jackson denied, "Why don't you compel humans to track down your enemies?" He then asked.

"I've already been doing that. And I'll have you know I do not consider this alleged sister to be an enemy...not just yet," Niklaus corrected the wolf.

"Why haven't you?" Hayley asked curiously, "I mean, you're so quick to categorize everyone as your enemy; why is this girl any different? She's working with Finn," Hayley pointed out.

Niklaus sighed, not quite wanting his motives revealed due to danger it would put him and his entire family in. Perhaps with Hayley he would trust the information, but not her werewolf lover.

"I need her for something," Klaus led on vaguely.

Jackson only scoffed.

Eventually, Hayley agreed with Klaus about sending wolves to track down Freya and Finn, and in doing so got Jackson on board with it.

Jackson summoned his wolves to scrounge up a plan to get Finn. Klaus whispered his advice into their ears behind Jackson's back, and Hayley went on a mission after putting Hope down for a nap.

There was something Klaus was hiding and she was determined to figure out what. He hardly kept anything from her as of lately but he suddenly became so secretive over his intentions for his eldest sister.

She maneuvered around the compound swiftly, hoping to find what she was looking for before Klaus found her. Clearly whatever he was hiding he was not intent on telling her.

She approached a room that was locked, twisting the handle to attempt to break it off and get inside anyways, but her efforts were proven useless. The door seemed to be indestructible. Hayley couldn't get in.

"And what might you be doing, little wolf?" Klaus asked, his tone laced with anger as he saw Hayley attempting to get into a room he made sure stayed shut.

"I-I was just-"

"Just what? Snooping for the big secret I've hidden from you?" Klaus cut her off, a glare in his eyes as he cleared his throat, "Let me make something clear to you Hayley; if I deem something is important in the efforts to protect our daughter and this family I will tell you. The things I do not tell you clearly are of no concern to you. I would suggest you mind your business," Klaus spoke properly and his tone was kind towards the mother of his child, but his words were laced with venom.

Hayley didn't say anything. She saw the fear that hid behind Klaus' angry eyes. She saw how his jaw clenched, waiting for her to snap back at him. She noticed the twitching his hands made every few seconds, as if anxious or worried.

So she stayed quiet, letting out a small hum and nodding her head before retreating to her daughter's room to check on the small child.

But in the back of Hayley's mind she knew whatever Klaus was hiding would reveal itself in due time. She got all the reassurance she needed by his words and the way he portrayed himself before her; fearful. He was scared to put in danger whatever it was he was hiding. Hayley believed that meant it was something she could put aside for the moment and not have to stress about.
