The morning sun streamed through the windows of their home, turning the room a gorgeous shade of sunrise orange. Hilda woke with a sense of peace, nestled in Hogsworth's arms. She gently extricated herself and stretched, savouring the quiet of the early hour.

"Good morning sleepyhead," Hilda said, leaning down to kiss Hogsworth's forehead.

Hogsworth groaned sleepily and turned to face Hilda and smile, "Good morning my frostflower," he greeted here, his voice soft with affection.

"Ready for another day?" Hilda asked, "I was thinking we could head to the library today and let Cedric know about the mistranslations in the book! The people deserve to know the truth of Boaregart~"

"Absolutely," he said, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "That sounds like a splendid plan."

After a quick breakfast, they set out towards the bustling heart of Glacierford. The town was alive with activity, and as they passed through the merchant district, it only grew more, with the merchants were calling out their wares loudly, and the children playing in the streets. Hilda and Hogsworth walked leisurely, stopping occasionally to admire the goods on display.

As the two passed through the merchant district to the village square, an angry voice filled with venom shouted behind them.

"You!"

Hogsworth and Hilda jumped at the sudden shout, and turned to see Kane standing before them, swaying slightly, his face flushed with drink.

"You shouldn't be here!" Kane spit out, raising an outraised finger in the general direction of where Hogsworth stood.

"Kane what are you-" Hilda said, tightening her grip on Hogsworth's hand. She could tell Kane had been drinking, and the happy-go-lucky guy that Kane usually presented at the Bistro was now fuming with rage before her. In fear, she tried to pull Hogsworth away with her. "Kane, please, let's not do this."

Kane ignored her, pulling out a knife and pointing it at Hogsworth; a few of the villagers nearby shrieking at the drawing of it. "You should be dead! You should've died with the rest of them in the Nether!"

A crowd began to gather, curious and concerned. Hilda's heart raced as she tried to reason with Kane. "Kane, put the knife down. You're drunk. Let's talk about this!"

Hogsworth, trying to de-escalate the situation, let go of Hilda's hand and raised both of his in a gesture of peace. "Kane, I-I'm not your enemy. Not anymore. Let's just calm down and t-talk."

Kane's eyes were wild with rage and fear. "Surrendering again pigman? Now tell me, how do you know my name!? Who told you?"

The tension in the air was palpable. Hilda could see Ciara pushing through the crowd in the distance, trying to reach them and shouting Kane's name.

"Kane! Kane what are you doing!?" Ciara shouted behind people of the crowd.

"Ughhhh how does everyone know my name here?!" Kane shouted, swaying his knife in a drunken manner.

Hogsworth started to take a step towards Kane. Despite cowering with fear inside, he wanted to resolve this situation peacefully... however, as Kane saw Hogsworth's foot edge closer, he snapped, and with a roar, he lunged at Hogsworth.

Hogsworth dodged quickly and skillfully, not wanting to fight back and risk making things worse. Another drunken swoop from Kane that sent Hogsworth bending backwards, before backing himself up again to dodge another slice in the air. Each slice that Kane attempted led to screams and gasps from the crowd as they watched the madman try their attempt to take out the Netherian before him.
