Lane's POV (1st Person):

The next day after school, I found myself back at home, trying to figure out how to fix things with Rebecca. I heard a knock on the door and opened it to find Oliver and Charlotte standing there, looking determined.

"Can we come in?" Oliver asked, not waiting for an answer before walking past me into the house. Charlotte followed, giving me a sympathetic smile.

"Sure, why not?" I muttered, closing the door behind them.

They both plopped down on the couch, and I sat across from them, wondering what this was all about.

"Look, Mr. Montgomery," Oliver began, "Rebecca's birthday was a disaster because of you. She was thinking about you the whole time because you missed it. She would've loved you to be there, but you pulling that stupid thing with Karen mucked it all up."

I rubbed my temples, feeling the headache coming on. "I know, Oliver. I'm trying to fix it."

Charlotte leaned forward, her eyes wide with concern. "You better fix this. She's really upset."

"I didn't realize she had told you two about our relationship," I said, a bit taken aback.

"Of course she did," Charlotte replied. "We're her best friends."

Oliver nodded. "And we care about her. So, what's your plan?"

I sighed, leaning back in my chair. "I'm working on it, but she isn't making it any easier. I have this whole plan, but she needs to listen."

"Well, you need to make her listen," Charlotte said, crossing her arms. "Because right now, she's convinced you don't care."

"Believe me, I care," I said, my voice frustrated. "But every time I try to talk to her, she runs away or gets angry."

"Have you tried apologizing?" Oliver asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, multiple times," I replied. "But she's not hearing me out."

"Then you need to try harder," Charlotte insisted. "Do something big, something she can't ignore."

Oliver smirked. "Yeah, like show up at her house with a boombox, playing her favourite song."

Charlotte rolled her eyes. "Or maybe not that cheesy, but you get the idea."

I couldn't help but laugh. "I'll think of something. Thanks for coming over, guys."

"Just make sure you fix this," Charlotte said, standing up. "Rebecca deserves to be happy."

"I will," I promised.

As they left, I felt a renewed sense of determination. I had to make things right with Rebecca, no matter what it took. I just hoped she would give me the chance.

The next day at school, my mind raced with plans to fix things with Rebecca. I couldn't take it any longer; I needed to talk to her, to explain everything. I spotted her in the hallway between classes and seized the moment.

"Rebecca," I called out, my voice tense.

She turned, her expression guarded. "What do you want?"

"We need to talk," I said firmly. "Now."

Before she could protest, I grabbed her arm and led her to my office. Once inside, I closed the door, ensuring we had privacy.

"What is it?" she snapped, crossing her arms defensively. "Are you here to say you missed my birthday, too?"
