༺CHAPTER FOUR༻
___________________________Ivy -
Slowly, I wake up from my deep sleep, the light shining bright in my eyes.
But there's something shading the sun a little bit. Or maybe someone?
I fully open my eyes to see a group of boys surrounding my hammock.
Not just someone a lot of people.
It's not like I wasn't expecting them to question me... I just didn't expect them to watch me sleep and pretend it's not creepy when I wake up.
It is creepy.
I let my eyes adjust to the light before I guess who's standing over me.
Thomas, Newt, Minho, Gally, Hamish and 2 others boys I don't recognise.
"Morning boys!" I try to say in my friendliest tone. It doesn't come out to well, a bit scratchy from waking up literal seconds ago, and with a little bit of unintended attitude, mainly because I'm not too great at being the nicest person in the world. I'll work on that.
I climb out of my hammock and try to push through Gally and Newt, not easily though, they're massive compared to me. It's not like they're helping me get through, they're standing at still as a rock.
"Hey!" One of them grabs my arm in a tight lock. I turn around to see Gally holding my arm with a stern look on his face, gripping my arm.
"Not so fast." He says blankly. I groan. "My god does this man ever smile?" I laugh a little and point to him with my other arm.
His grip tightens, enough it starts to hurt a little.
My eyes widen. Suddenly I get this sense of fear creep up my spine.
I use my other hand to try and push his arm off. But he's too strong.
"Get off!" I basically yell at him. He ignores me. "Whats your name?" He asks, blank tone and blank face. I'm barely listening to him though, focused on trying to get him off of me.
"Let go!" I shout.
He continues to look at me, something in his expression changes from a blank 'I don't care' look, to a 'shit I'm sorry' look, almost instantly. It's like something snapped in his mind.
He lets go of my arm and waits for my reaction.
The second he lets go... I bolt. Running as fast and as far as I can into the woods. I don't know why, but I just need to get away.
"Shit."I hear someone say behind me.
While running, I lift up my arm to see a red spot wrapping around my arm. I try to rub it off, but it sticks.
Wow his grip was tight
I speed as fast as I can, further and further into the woods.
I turn my head around to see Gally chasing after me, catching up to me. I look further into the distance behind Gally and see the other boys still standing there at my hammock. Just watching Gally chase after me. Of all people, I would assume that Minho would chase after me, since he's a runner.
I turn my head back around to see where I'm going, dodging trees and branches left, right, front and centre.
I keep running, until I see water.
Water?
I slow down, still keeping at a steady pace and I notice, it's a lake.
I slow my run down enough to stop, right in front of the water.
Behind me, I hear heavy footsteps get slower, crunching on the grass. Gally, clearly puffed out. No wonder he's a builder and not a runner.
"Finally." He breathes.
I ignore him and bend down to the water, investigating it.
I touch the water with the tip of my finger, it sends ripple waves through the rest of the lake. It's mesmerising, how clear and glass like the water is.
"My god you're fast." He says. Still ignoring him, I walk over to a nearby tree, and pick up a rock. A flat one.
"What're you doing?" He asks me. "Watch." I tell him.
I throw the pebble at the water and watch up bounce across the water, until it finally sinks.
"Lemme try." Gally says. I watch him go over to the tree I went to and pick up a small, round, rock... idiot.
He throws the rock at the water, over arm, and it smacks the water and sinks instantly. It makes me giggle a little bit.
He turns his attention to me out of confusion. I know he has 2 questions on his mind:
What's your name? How did you do that?
I'm only willing to answer one of those questions. But he only asks one. The one I don't want to answer.
"Whats your name?" He asks. "Can you please just tell me and not play any games, it's not doing anyone any favours." He says, which kind of annoys me, but then again, he's right.
Before I tell him, I decide to joke a little bit. "Guess." I laugh.
A little bit of a smile cracks on his face but he tries his hardest to cover it. "I said no games." He says.
"Fine." I start, he leans in closer out of anticipation.
"Ivy." I say quietly.
"Ivy..." he tries to smile softly, but you can tell he's not very good at being sweet. I smile back at his effort. "It's pretty." He compliments. "When did you remember?" He asks. God could he ask any more questions? I mean at least he wasn't like Thomas.
"When I was coming up in the box." I say even more quietly, hoping he won't be able to hear.
"I'm sorry, what?!" He shouts. Turns out, it is possible for him to ask even more questions. "Why did you keep it a secret?!" Oh my god, another question. Yay!
"Hang on a minute." I start. "That's not fair!" I shout back at him.
He scoffs. "Whats not fair?" Yet another question. "The fact that I had just been introduced to this place, with no memory, other than my name. Surrounded by a group of teenage boys I don't recognise. And quite frankly, do not trust. And you expect me to tell you this one fact? Not knowing if you're good people or bad. I think not." I blurt out.
He looks at me, shocked. I'm not going to lie, I'm shocked as well. That's the most amount of words I've said to anyone this entire time here. And I don't know myself to shout at people. I don't know what came over me, but I'm just so mad.
"I- um... I'm sorry." I apologise. He's still looking at me, speechless. I walk past him, bumping into his shoulder, but this time, accidentally, not because I had an attitude or anything, just an accident.
He watches me walk away with my head down. Still not saying anything.
