INÉS and Sebastian had been spending every moment they could together before he had to leave for the Belgian Grand Prix. Their days were filled with quiet mornings at coffee shops, long walks through London, and cozy evenings at home. They cherished these moments, finding solace in each other's company despite their busy schedules. One afternoon, as they relaxed in Sebastian's apartment, Sebastian lay back on the couch while Inés rested her head on his chest. They were enjoying a rare moment of peace, but Inés's phone buzzed on the coffee table.
"Not again," Inés muttered, reaching for her phone. She glanced at the screen and saw it was her manager calling. "Sorry, Seb. I have to take this."
Sebastian sighed, his arms still around her. "It's okay. I understand. But it seems like we never get to have a full uninterrupted moment."
Inés answered the call, her voice professional but distracted. "Hello? Yes, I'm here. What's up?"
Sebastian watched her, feeling a pang of frustration. He knew how important her career was, but he also felt increasingly sidelined.
When Inés finally hung up, she returned to Sebastian's embrace. "Sorry about that. It's just a lot right now."
Sebastian gave her a small, tired smile. "I know. I just wish we could have a bit more time for ourselves without interruptions."
"Me too," Inés said, snuggling closer. "I'm looking forward to tonight."
They spent the rest of the day together, savoring the time they had. Despite their efforts, interruptions continued—another call from her manager, a sudden request for a quick photoshoot, and last-minute changes to her schedule. Each time, their moments of intimacy were cut short, leaving both of them feeling increasingly frustrated.
The night of their planned dinner arrived, and Inés was running late. Her photoshoot had taken longer than anticipated, and now she was trying to navigate through London traffic, her nerves on edge. She had decided to go straight from the shoot, still wearing the outfit she had modeled earlier—a chic black dress with a high slit. It was elegant but also made her feel self-conscious about arriving in such a high-profile outfit.
When she finally reached the restaurant, she saw Sebastian standing by his car, looking at his watch with a mixture of impatience and concern. As soon as he saw her, his expression changed from annoyance to frustration.
"I'm so sorry, Seb," Inés said, rushing toward him. "The shoot went over, and I tried to get here as fast as I could."
Sebastian's eyes traveled over her, the frustration not easing. "You're late again. I've been waiting for almost an hour."
"I know, and I really am sorry," Inés said, her voice trembling. "I wanted to be here on time. It's just—"
Sebastian cut her off, his voice rising. "It's always something with you, Inés. Your career is important, but it feels like I'm always the one left waiting."
Inés's eyes filled with tears. "I didn't mean to make you feel that way. I'm trying to balance everything."
Sebastian's anger seemed to grow as he saw her distress. "It's not just about tonight. It's about how this keeps happening. It makes me feel like I'm not a priority."
"I want to be with you too," Inés said, her voice breaking. "But sometimes things run late."
Sebastian's face softened slightly, but he was still hurt. "I just want us to have time together without these constant interruptions. I want to feel like I matter too."
"I want that too," Inés said, her voice breaking. "But this is my job, and sometimes things run late."
Sebastian's stubbornness seemed to win out as he shook his head. "I know your job is important, but I can't keep feeling like I'm competing with it."
Inés reached out, trying to touch his arm. "Please, Seb. I'm doing my best. Can't we talk about this calmly and figure something out?"
Sebastian sighed and turned away. "I don't want to fight. I just need some space to think." he turned around he scanned her figure one last time. "For what it's worth you truly look beautiful."
Inés watched as he got into his car and drove away, feeling a heavy weight of sadness and frustration. She had hoped for a romantic evening, but instead, they ended up in a bitter argument.
Back at his hotel room, Sebastian was pacing, his frustration boiling over. He picked up his phone and dialed his mother's number. She answered on the first ring.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Mom," Sebastian said, his voice weary.
"Sebastian, what's wrong?" his mother asked, sensing his distress.
"It's Inés," Sebastian said. "We had a fight. I was so frustrated, and I don't know how to fix it."
His mother listened patiently. "Tell me what happened."
Sebastian recounted the evening's events, his frustration evident in his tone. "I just feel like I'm always waiting around for her, and it's like I'm not a priority."
"Sebastian," his mother said gently, "you need to understand that Inés's career is demanding. It doesn't mean she doesn't care about you. You need to find a way to communicate your feelings without letting your frustration take over."
"I know," Sebastian said, his voice softening. "I guess I was just hurt and didn't handle it well."
"Relationships are about understanding and compromise," his mother said. "You have to be willing to see things from her perspective too. Try talking to her again when you're both calmer. Express how you feel without placing blame."
"Thanks, Mom," Sebastian said, feeling a sense of relief from the conversation. "I'll give her a call and try to make things right."
The next morning, Sebastian called Inés, who answered with a cautious tone. "Hello?"
"Hi, engel," Sebastian said softly. "I've been thinking about what happened last night. I'm really sorry for how I acted."
Inés's voice was hesitant but hopeful. "I'm sorry too. I didn't mean to hurt you. I've just been trying to manage everything, and I didn't realize how it was affecting us."
"I understand," Sebastian said. "Let's talk about it and find a way to make things work. I don't want to keep fighting."
"I'd like that," Inés said. "I want us to be able to balance everything and be happy together."
"Me too," Sebastian said. There was a brief pause, and then he added softly, "I, uh, I love you, Inés."
Inés's heart fluttered. "I love you too, Seb."
