*At hospital*

The fluorescent lights of the hospital waiting room cast a harsh glow on Matthew’s anguished face as he paced frenetically in front of the operation theater. His heart raced with every passing second, each one stretching into an eternity as he awaited news on Kate’s condition. Tears streamed down his face, and he struggled to contain his sobs, each breath coming in ragged gasps.

Moris, accompanied by Ava, John, James, and Tom, arrived at the hospital. They had been through their own share of chaos, but the sight of Matthew, broken and crying, was a new kind of agony.

Moris immediately went to his brother, pulling him into a tight embrace.

Moris: Matthew, it’s going to be okay.

He murmured, his own voice thick with emotion.

Moris: We’ll get through this.

Matthew’s body shook with the intensity of his sobs.

Matthew: Please, M-moris  *he choked out*  Ple-ase save her. I ca-an’t lose her. I don’t have an-yone else. She’s all I have le-eft.

His voice broke with every word, his pain palpable.

Ava, standing by Moris’s side, reached out to comfort him.

Ava: Matthew, we’re all here for you  *she said softly*  We’ll do everything we can. Just stay strong.

John and James, who had come to terms with their own mixed emotions, stood silently, their faces etched with concern and helplessness. Tom, recovering from the accident, offered a solemn nod, his eyes reflecting the gravity of the situation.

Soon after, a women came running, "Harper", looking pale and distraught, burst into the waiting room. Her eyes were red from crying, and her expression was one of sheer panic and desperation.

Harper: Matthew!

she cried, rushing towards him.

Harper: What happened? Why is my daughter like this? Why didn’t you save her?

Matthew, overwhelmed by the weight of his own grief, remained numb and silent, unable to offer any words of comfort. His silence only fueled Harper’s anguish.

Harper's tears were streaming down on her face, grabbed Matthew by the collar.

Harper: I THOUGHT YOU COULD PROTECT HER! I THOUGHT YOU'D SAVE HER FROM ALL THIS! WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW?

she shouted, her voice breaking with frustration.

Ava quickly intervened, placing a calming hand on Harper’s shoulder.

Ava: Aunty, please. Yelling at Matthew won’t help Kate. We’re all in shock right now. We need to support each other.

Harper’s eyes were fierce, but she looked at Ava, her anger slowly giving way to despair.

Harper: I’m sorry. I’m just so scared. I don’t know what to do.

Ava nodded understandingly.

Ava: I know. We all are. But we need to stay calm and focus on helping Kate. She needs us now more than ever.

Just then, the door to the operation theater swung open, and the doctor emerged, his face a mask of grim determination. The waiting room fell silent as everyone turned their attention to him.

Matthew, his emotions barely contained, rushed to the doctor.

Matthew: How is she?  *he demanded, his voice strained*  Is she okay?

The doctor took a deep breath, clearly exhausted.

Doctor: We managed to remove the bullet from her stomach  *he began, his tone somber*  But she went into a coma. Her head sustained significant trauma from a blunt object. If she doesn’t wake up within the next seventy-two hours, I’m afraid we may not be able to do anything more.

Matthew’s face turned a shade of white as the doctor’s words sank in. He grabbed the doctor by the collar, his anger and fear boiling over. His face contorted with raw, desperate anger.

Matthew: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING? If she doesn’t wake up, IT'S ON--

But just as quickly, the weight of his emotions overwhelmed him. He released the doctor’s collar, collapsing onto his knees. Tears streamed down his face, his sobs breaking through the cold, sterile air of the hospital corridor.

Matthew: P-please don't say that. Save her, DO SOMETHING! I can’t lose her. Not like this.

Doctor: I'm sorry. We are trying our best.

Moris, who had been watching the scene unfold with a heavy heart, approached Matthew. He knelt beside him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Moris: Matthew, calm down. This isn’t going to help Kate.

He said firmly, gently pulling Matthew up, making him stood straight in front of doctor.

Moris: Let the medical professionals do their job.

Matthew’s eyes were wild with desperation.

Matthew: I can’t just sit here and do nothing. SHE'S MY EVERYTHING!

The doctor watched the scene with a mix of sympathy and professional detachment.

Doctor: We’re doing everything we can  *he said gently*  We’re closely monitoring her, and we’ll take every possible step to help her recover. But your support will mean a lot to her. You need to stay hopeful for her sake.

James, who had been silent up to this point, finally spoke, his voice heavy with worry.

James: Doctor, can we see her now?

The doctor nodded solemnly.

Doctor: Yes, but we need to move her to another ward first. We’ll allow you to visit once she’s settled in.

Matthew, barely hearing the doctor, turned on his heel and strode out of the waiting room. Moris called after him, his voice laced with concern.

Moris: Matthew, where are you going?

Matthew ignored the call, his mind focused on only one thing—he need to end this Andrew's chapter now. He made his way out of the hospital and headed straight for his mansion, his resolve hardening with each step.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital, the rest of the group tried to process the grim news. Harper, still shaken, leaned against Ava for support.

Harper: I just don’t understand how this happened  *she said, her voice breaking* Why did it have to be Kate?

Ava held Harper close, her voice soothing.

Ava: We’re going to get through this, Aunty. We have to believe that Kate will pull through. She’s strong.

John, his face etched with concern, looked at the others.

John: We need to stay united. Kate needs us, and we have to be there for her.”

Tom, though still recovering from his injuries, nodded in agreement.

Tom: I’ll stay here and support everyone. We can’t give up hope.

As the hours ticked by, the group waited anxiously for any updates, their hearts heavy with worry. The fight was far from over, and the outcome remained uncertain. But they knew that together, they could face whatever challenges lay ahead, united by their love and determination to protect Kate and seek justice for all that had happened
