The smiles and cheerfulness on their faces were evident, in the narrow and humble streets of Harajuku where various stalls were lined up selling accessories, foods, items, clothes, etc; it pulled them momentarily away from reality—just a bunch of friends having fun.
"What do you guys think?" Kaito had a huge beaming smile, his blue eyes were mostly on Mary and looking forward to a reaction.
They stood in front of a crepe stand, that displayed crepes with assorted flavors and the overall look was enticing because even the glass stand of the crepe was complimentary colored to go with the tasty treat. It was hard not to buy one.
Grim had behaved the whole time as to not stir unwanted attention, choosing to lounge on Lucas' shoulder tonight. "Man, this is good alright, like wow" His crepe had a Nutella filling and sliced bananas inside.
"It's the first time I have one of these..." Even Lucas had an astonished expression whilst he carefully took a bite of his Blueberry cheesecake crepe, he nodded.
Kaito deadpanned, "Dude for real though, are you that high maintenance?" Moving on he glanced back at the redhead.
"It's super delicious!" Mary imagined sparkles and confetti of sprinkles behind her as she reveled in each bite she made on her wild berries crepe with custard crème. "Thank you for the treat, Kaito! We should try another stall next time we come back!"
There would be another round?! Alright! Kaito was jumping triumphantly in his head at this as if he suddenly aced a difficult subject and got an A after many stingy Cs. "Seeing you happy is enough to make me happy, Mary!"
After finishing their evening snacks, they took a few more walks and even a group picture together. On their way back to the orphanage, Kaito lagged and held Mary's wrist to make her slow down to his side.
"Something up, Kaito?" The red-haired princess asked curiously.
Kaito peered at her face, a small smile curving up. "Thank you for today"

It wouldn't be as fun and joyous once Mary, Kaito, Lucas and Grim returned to the orphanage house because aside from the lurking danger in the shadows, there was a high probability Jin Kamurai would give them an earful and make his wrath known. Yep, the grumpy and surly Frostheim Captain's mood continued spiraling downward the entire mission, this was not going okay.
He was one of the most established and able ghouls in Darkwick Academy, damn, his skills were undisputed so how did he—for fvck's sake—end up wrapped with thick ropes down here in the basement surrounded by stinky, rotting old corpses.
"We're like in a B-rated horror movie, you know, the ones with an average or cheap budget and uses jump scares and gore to attack the viewers--" Tohma's side comments were not helping make things better either, he was also tied up next to Jin.
The Frostheim Captain was not liking any of this bullshit. "Will you shut your mouth?!" Damn it, how could this asshole come up with a ridiculous thought while they were in a dire situation?! Wasn't he worried that not only would their reputation was going to be tarnished but chances of getting eaten?
Tohma snickered, he wasn't listening. "I am only trying to find a good angle in this messy situation"
That only made more nerves to pop in Jin's head. "There is no good fvcking angle!"
Recalling how they ended up in the losing side was irritating, like a shot in the ego kind of thing but the anomaly was surprisingly tricky and cunning. Speaking of which, the towering and slender faceless pure chalk white anomaly showed up followed by its subordinates sharing similar features.
