"Hey." Jeremy walked up to Tobey. He was sitting on a couch in the back probably where he thought no one could see him.

He had a new joint in his hand.

Gosh. How large was this guys stash?

Tobey looked up lazily. "I don't need anymore lectures."

Jeremy leaned on the wall and folded his arms across his chest.

"I know. Trust me. I was once the messed up druggie kid was around here."

Tobey looked up interested. He rose his brows.

"And Ali let that happen?"

"No." Jeremy shrugged. "She tried to save me. She always tried to save me."

Tobey couldn't help but smile to himself. "Sounds like her."

He looked up at Jeremy. "Hence why you can't give up on her."

That wasn't even a question for Jeremy.

"Yeah..." he would do anything for Ali.

He nodded at Tobey.

"And you? She's obviously the reason you are still in Mystic Falls."

Tobey clenched his free hand.

Finding out what Ali had done. How she had tricked him and left with Klaus still hurt.

Not even necessarily because of her actions but because he couldn't stop her.

"My sister is gone. My mother is gone. My father is gone." He spoke. "Ali is all I have left. She saved me from the curse. Something I had been trying to do my whole life and failed. Something she promised to help with and actually did...."

Tobey didn't say the other part. That if hadn't been for Ali, he would have eventually stopped seeing any reason to go on.

She's the reason he was still holding on.

"There's no one like her." Tobey confessed.

Jeremy saw the look in his eyes.

They both loved her Jeremy realised.

Maybe it wasn't in the same way but definitely enough that they would do whatever it took to get her back.

And maybe it should have been awkward but it actually united them in a weird way.

Tobey looked up at Jeremy holding up the joint.

Jeremy shrugged and took it, taking a pull.

"I can tell something is going on with you by the way. You're not exactly sleek." Tobey spoke as he watched him blow out some smoke.

Jeremy thought about this morning in the storeroom.

One of the many times he had been having these weird... sightings.

Jeremy opened his mouth. He hadn't told anyone about them but for the first time he felt comfortable enough to confide in Tobey.

"Where did you get that?"

Both boys looked up to see Matt Donovan appear.

He was nodding at the joint in Jeremy's hand.

"Henry from the kitchen." Tobey shrugged seeming unbothered.

Matt sighed and took the joint before taking a drag.

Jeremy looked on in surprise while Tobey simply grinned.

He sat on the couch beside Tobey and Jeremy settled down beside him. The three of them exchanging the bud.

"So," Matt spoke after it was his turn to take a drag. "What's got you two on your spiral downward? Sure it's a lot more interesting than mine."
