The Departure

A month had passed since that unfortunate day and Synthia can still remember it as if it were just yesterday, everyone around her seemed to be going on with their lives, yet she had lost hers on that day. It seemed as if she were separated by an invisible wall, concealing her from the outside world, constricting her in its clutches of immense grief. It has been a month and she still hopefully awaited for her love to come back to her, but that was not possible. He was dead, leaving Synthia alone in this cold, cruel world alone with their child who will never see it's father.

The thought of the child was the only thing that kept Synthia going on, for the baby's health she did not skip meals but her grief had taken a severe toll on her mental health, she was slowly destroying herself. Since that day, Synthia had not used her powers nor did she mention of them to anyone, she sat in his room all day, crying and mourning for him. Thor, Melody and Frigga had tried everything to get her to move on, but nothing seemed to work. Their hearts pained at seeing her in this state.

The people of Asgard seemed to go on with their lives as if they hadn't lost a prince, as if they hadn't lost.... him. The servants of Asgard seemed to have made it their life's goal to make Synthia's life miserable. Whispers of her disloyalty to the throne of Asgard, her amorous relationship with some palace noble behind Loki's back and how the child wasn't the prince's often reached her ears, there were rumors of how she was silently plotting to murder the king and queen, kill Thor and then take over the palace as a revenge for Loki or how she was planning to help enemies invade Asgard through some secret gateway that she's looking all the while when Synthia was just wandering the royal gardens.

Though silly the rumors of her unfaithfulness to Loki hurt her the most, had they not seen her happiness when she was with him or how her eyes only ever saw him, how when together they were inseparable?

It was a sunny day in Asgard, the sky was a vibrant blue with soft white clouds of Ymir's thoughts floating upwards as the people of Asgard seemed to get on their way. Synthia knocked on Frigga's door and entered. She was wearing a black gown with a trail that flowed behind her with grace. Her protruded belly could be seen from the sides, her skin an alarming shade of pale with her open brunette hair framing her gaunt face, the only bright thing was the ring Loki intended to give her sitting atop her finger along with his necklace on her neck.

"Good morning mother." Synthia rasped.

"Good morning dear, I suppose there is a reason you've come to visit me." Frigga inquired.

"I'm going to Midgard." She declared.

Frigga remained stunned for a second, finally she broke out of her stupor.

"Whatever for my darling? Is something the matter?" She asked incredulously.

"I do not wish to stay at Asgard anymore mother, not without him." She choked out, tears threatening to flow from her eyes.

Frigga sighed, "If this is what you wish to do then I shall not stop you, I can only imagine what you're going through and thus I shall not stop you. My best wishes are with you darling."

Synthia hugged her, "I shall make you proud mother."

"You already have." She replied fondly, stroking her hair.

After saying a painfully sad goodbye to Melody, Synthia got ready and departed to the rainbow bridge on the edge of which she met Heimdall staring into the cosmos, seeing things only visible to him.

"Good morning, dear Heimdall." She greeted.

"Good morning, dear friend. I suppose there is a reason behind your visit here?" He inquired politely.
