The next morning, the first rays of sunlight filtered gently through the curtains, casting a soft, golden glow across the room. Adhiraj stirred in his sleep, the discomfort rousing him slowly. He squinted against the light as he sat up at the edge of the bed, feeling a sharp throb of pain pulse through his head. Instinctively, he reached up to hold his head, but a sudden jolt of pain shot through his bandaged hand, causing him to wince.

Frowning, he examined the white gauze wrapped tightly around his palm. Confusion clouded his mind. How had his hand gotten bandaged? His gaze drifted around the room, eventually landing on a towel and a bowl of water on the side table. The sight triggered a flood of memories from the previous night, each one more distressing than the last.

He vividly remembered the party-the way he had misbehaved with Kavya, his frustration and anger spilling over into cruel words that he hurled at her. Her face flashed before his eyes, her expression a heartbreaking mix of betrayal and pain. She had left the party abruptly, and he had drowned himself in more alcohol, desperate to numb the bitterness festering inside him.

Returning to the hotel, he had gone straight to Kavya's room, his fists pounding on her door, but she hadn't opened it. Defeated, he had retreated to his own room, continuing to drink in a futile attempt to erase the night's events. Fragments of his actions came back to him in disjointed pieces. He remembered the glass in his hand shattering, the sharp sting as the shards cut into his skin. He had stumbled into the bathroom, trying to calm his nerves, but everything after that was a blur. His last clear memory was of Kavya's face, her eyes filled with pain that seared into his soul.

Groaning in frustration, Adhiraj questioned himself. Who had bandaged his hand? Who had changed his clothes? He had vague, dream-like glimpses of Kavya being there, her voice calling his name, her touch cooling his fevered forehead. It all felt surreal, like a half-remembered dream.

Looking around the room again, his eyes fell on a figure at the edge of the bed. Kavya was there, sleeping on the floor, her face partially obscured by her hair. She was still in her saree from the party, the delicate fabric now slightly rumpled and showing signs of the night's turmoil. Adhiraj's heart clenched with guilt. It hadn't been an illusion. Kavya had been there with him, taking care of him throughout the night, despite how terribly he had treated her.
