A knock at the door broke me from my inner monologue. "Myla, can I come in?" Angie.
"Sure," she came in with some clothes.
"I brought some pyjamas and a couple of outfits since you don't have your stuff with you," she said, setting the clothes on the bed.
"Thanks," I responded.
"Dinners by 7 in the cafeteria. I'll come get you before then," she said as she left the room.
I stripped and went into the bathroom to shower, letting the water cascade over my body. The past 24 hours have been extremely confusing, from being a troubled teen to suddenly getting a scholarship to one of the elite schools in the country. Let's not forget that my ex-best friend had a twin brother he never mentioned or that I'm now going to be in the same school as him.
I dried off before examining the clothes Angie had brought for me. I picked out an oversized sweatshirt which said 'Rayton' on it and put on the jeans I had on earlier. Brushed my hair and put it into a braid.
I checked the time, and it was 5.45, meaning I still had a lot of time to kill before dinner, so I decided to head to the common room. I was on my way downstairs when I felt something vibrate in my pocket, I brought out my phone to see I had a text from my brother.
Theo: You know when Mum told me she had news about you, I thought you had finally been expelled. Not gotten whisked away to a fancy boarding school on a scholarship.
Me: You're a terrible older brother.
Theo: But one you love. I'll call you later, just try to stay out of trouble till then.
Me: Have faith in me.
Theo: When pigs fly.
"Hey Myla," I turned up to see Elijah.
"Hey Elijah," I said awkwardly. You can't blame me, he's the literal carbon copy of one of the people I despise the most right now.
"Where you of to?"
"The common room."
"Me too."
We walked in awkward silence till we reached the common room. Elijah took a seat on the huge sofa while I settled on one of the beanbags.
"So have you met the rest?" he asked.
"I've met Angie, Sasha and Asher."
"So, you haven't seen Nathan," I froze. I didn't realize that I'd be living in the same place as him. It's enough that I'm going to be with the carbon copy, but I also must deal with the real one.
"I didn't know he was going to be here," I said, trying to maintain my cool demeanour.
"I'm surprised you didn't see him considering that his room is right across from you."
I hate you, Harry.
"How do you feel about being an Elite"
"What?" I said in confusion, I'd heard Angie saying something about a 'junior Elite', but my curiosity was occupied.
"No one told you anything," I shook my head and he sighed.
"Here in Rayton, students in each grade are separated by their results and put into leagues, Elite, Diamond, Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby. Elite being the highest rated and Ruby being the lowest."
"How many in each league?"
"10 per league and we all live together."
"You mean to tell me that I'm living with 9 other people?"
