**Chapter 02: The Apocalypse Arrives**

He looked down at the soft silk quilt in his hands.

After the apocalypse began, finding something as clean and soft as a silk quilt would be nearly impossible.

The child's skin was delicate. In his dream, he had been in such a hurry to escape that he didn't think to bring any good clothes or bedding. Later, when the child's wrist was rubbed raw by coarse fabric, he regretted not preparing better.

He had already decided that this time he would bring some of the child's clothes with him, but they could only carry so much, so choosing what to take and what to leave was a problem.

Now, he thought, he didn't have to worry about it anymore.

He gathered all the useful items from the room, including the bedding and lamps, but when he turned around, he saw Liao Jia Mian standing in the doorway, staring blankly at him.

He explained, "This is Wu Wu Hero's ability. Can Kulu Hero keep it a secret?"

Liao Jia Mian's eyes suddenly lit up with excitement, and he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Yes!"

With a proud smile, he added, "Kulu Hero has already kicked out all the bad guys. Wu Wu Hero doesn't need to worry. Kulu Hero will protect you."

Wu Cheng took Liao Jia Mian's small hand and started walking out. "Now, Wu Wu Hero has encountered a new problem. Can Kulu Hero help?"

"Of course I can!" Liao Jia Mian thumped his little chest. "Kulu Hero guarantees to complete the mission."

The TV in the living room was broadcasting news about crazed people biting others. Wu Cheng quickened his pace. "Now Wu Wu Hero needs you to gather the most important things and then give them to Wu Wu Hero for safekeeping."

Liao Jia Mian looked at him, puzzled. "Why give them to Wu Wu Hero? Uncle Hong said important things should be kept safe by ourselves."

Without stopping, Wu Cheng headed straight for Liao Jia Mian's room. "Because Wu Wu Hero is Kulu Hero's sidekick. Sidekicks help keep things safe for you."

Liao Jia Mian grinned, scrunching up his little nose in delight, "Hehe, I see. Alright then..."

He let go of Wu Cheng's hand and ran ahead, his hair bouncing with each step, his whole being radiating happiness. "Wait here, Kulu Hero will be right back."

His voice was still loud as ever. Wu Cheng loosely clenched his now empty hand and turned to enter Liao Jia Mian's room.

Liao Jia Mian's room was connected to a walk-in closet. Wu Cheng didn't take all of the boy's clothes.

Children grow quickly, and no matter how good these clothes were, in a year or two they wouldn't fit anymore. Taking too much would be useless.

He carefully selected clothes for each season, but when he saw the ones printed with Kulu Hero and Wu Wu Hero, he decided to take them all.

Besides that, he also packed all of Liao Jia Mian's usual items. Once he had gathered enough, he went to the surveillance room and turned off all the cameras.

The cameras inside the rooms required a password to access, and only Uncle Hong knew it. But if he guessed correctly, Uncle Hong had already died before he woke up.

Died from a zombie attack.As soon as Liao Jia Mian handed him a small iron box, he said, "Here!"

Liao Jia Mian had run over in such a hurry that his little face was flushed. Wu Cheng looked down at the box, which was decorated with images of Kulu Hero and Wu Wu Hero. He knew that this was the "magic box" that the child had often talked about in his dreams, believing it was protected by those heroes.
