Hello! Just a few things before we get into this, yeah?
1. This is the first fanfiction I have ever written, and some of the first fiction I've ever written generally since creative writing in high school. I put this together in a week in some sort of crazed fury, and I'm sure there'll be some odd grammar or typos I've missed somewhere, I can only be so thorough.
2. It's best to think of this as a fanfic of the English dub of Naruto. That's the version I'm most familiar with, so all of the characters are specifically supposed to match up with their English dub versions, which can be a little different from the Manga or the Japanese Anime. The biggest one will no doubt be the honorifics, which I don't understand and won't embarrass myself by trying to incorporate. Feel free to add them back in in your head wherever they're supposed to go.
3. I wrote this for me. Hinata is a character that means a lot to me personally and I wanted to do my best to expand on her story in ways that I think make sense and could reasonably fit into the canonical timeline. I had a ton of fun writing it, which is the most important fact, and while feedback is welcome, the only person I was really aiming to please is myself.
4. I'd like to issue a content warning if you're particularly sensitive to depictions of child abuse. I've tried to treat the subject with nuance, and there's nothing graphic in there (It's not that kind of abuse) but if you don't like reading about children being neglected, then be warned, that's a big part of this story.
