"Are your friends in the tree house?" I asked.
It was beautiful. I've never seen a treehouse that was this big and the tree it was in was even bigger. Someone could easily live here. I bet it has a wonderful view from the inside.
"Yes, we all meet here almost every day. Most of them are nice, there is one who can be a little... grumpy."
"Can we go up?" I asked excitedly. The light from inside the treehouse shined bright and I could see people moving around.
"Sure," Molly walked over to the huge tree the house was in and grabbed a big branch, using it to hoist herself up before grabbing another branch and doing the same thing.
"Is that how we're going to get up there," I asked looking up at her.
She grunted as she reached for another branch, "Yep."
I walked over to the tree and touched it, "Why is there no ladder?"
"Charles and Louis broke it yesterday while trying to reenact a scene from this movie they're obsessed with."
"Charles and Louis?" I'm pretty sure I met someone named Louis at my birthday party that I talked to. Hopefully, it's not the same person, that boy was strange.
"My friends," She said, "You'll meet both of them as soon as we climb up. Come on."
I sighed and grabbed onto a branch, following Molly up. I'm glad I'm not wearing a nightgown. The wind blew hard making me sway a little bit. I grabbed harder onto the tree as the wind continued to blow. If I reached for another branch I probably fall. I looked down at how far the ground was now. If I fell it could be fatal. I wrapped my arms around the tree as much as I could and held on tight. Even though it's been cold my pj's have kept me warm.
"Are you okay down there?" Molly hollered from above.
I looked up slightly, "Yeah."
The wind started to calm down, giving me a chance to reach for the next branch. Soon enough Molly and I were on the deck of the treehouse. I looked around a little. There were some rocking chairs and a table. I saw a small fridge in the corner and something that looked like storage next to it. Molly told me that's where they keep the toys they play with during the summer.
"We're going to enter through the back door since it's closer, I'll go in first so they don't think you're an intruder," Molly walked towards the door and took off her necklace.
I didn't even know she was wearing one, it must have been tucked into her shirt. At the end of it was a tiny key. So tiny that it looked like a charm. She put the key into what I now saw was a very small keyhole. She turned it before taking the key out and opening the door.
When she opened the door I could hear what sounded like the TV and a lot of yelling. The house was warm which I was very grateful for.
"How many friends do you have?" I asked, I was hearing lots of voices.
"Good question. Let's see there's Charles, Louis, Graham, Rick, Gabin, Natalie and... that's it, so like six plus you now so seven. That makes eight of us in total."
"Are all six of them here right now?" I asked shocked. I didn't know kids were allowed to go out past ten.
"They should be. I think they're all in the living room."
"Who owns this tree house?"
"It's for all of us but technically Gabin since his father built it for him."
