IN WHICH... Y/N FINDS OUT HER BOYFRIEND IMPREGNATED HER BEST FRIENDI KNEW SOMETHIN' WAS OFF.
Deante and I had been tight for years, and my best friend, Kali, was like my ride-or-die. So when they started chillin' more, I didn't trip at first. I figured they were just tryin' to vibe since they were both important to me. But then, things started gettin' weird.
Kali used to come over and we'd watch trash TV, talk mess, all that. But lately, her energy was different. She'd be on her phone all the time, barely makin' eye contact, and she started wearin' these baggy hoodies in the middle of summer. I ain't stupid—I knew somethin' was up.
Then one day, I caught a glimpse of her belly when she reached for somethin'. I tried to play it off, but my mind was racin'. Kali didn't have a man, and I know she wasn't the type to just hook up with randoms.
A week later, when it was just us two, I couldn't hold it in anymore. "Yo, Kali, you pregnant or somethin'?" I asked, tryna keep my voice steady.
She froze, then slowly nodded. "Yeah, I am."
My heart dropped, but I tried to keep cool. "Who's the baby daddy?"
She looked at me like she was tryna figure out if she should lie or not, but I guess she knew it was pointless. "It's Deante's," she finally said, voice low.
For a second, the room went silent, like the whole world stopped. My man. My best friend. The two people I trusted most had been sneakin' around behind my back.
"You for real?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper, like I needed her to say it wasn't true, but I knew better.
She nodded, eyes filled with guilt, but that didn't do nothin' for me. I felt the anger boilin' up, mixin' with the hurt. "How long?" I demanded.
"A few months," she mumbled.
I couldn't even speak. All I could do was stare at her, this girl I used to call my sister, standin' there with my man's baby in her belly. It was like every memory we ever had together was a lie.
"I'm sorry," she said, tears spillin' over, but I wasn't tryin' to hear it. Sorry wasn't gonna fix this.
"Get out," I said, my voice cold as ice. "Get outta my face before I do somethin' I can't take back."
She hesitated, but I wasn't playin'. I didn't even look at her as she grabbed her stuff and left, slamming the door behind her.
And as I stood there, alone in that empty room, the reality set in. The two people I thought I could trust had betrayed me in the worst way possible. But one thing was for damn sure—this wasn't over.
After Kali left, I sat there with my mind racin', but one thing was clear—I needed to confront Deante. I wasn't about to let this slide, not after what I just found out.
I texted him, "We need to talk. Now." It wasn't long before he hit me back, sayin' he was on his way. I could tell by the way he was rushin' that he didn't know what was comin'.
When he walked in, lookin' all casual, I was already standin' in the middle of the room, arms crossed, tryin' to keep myself from goin' off right then and there. He stepped in, smilin' like he usually did when he saw me, but when he saw my face, that smile disappeared real quick.
"What's wrong, babe?" he asked, tryin' to play dumb.
I wasn't havin' it. "Don't 'babe' me, Deante. You know damn well why I called you here."
He looked confused for a second, but then it hit him, and his eyes flickered with guilt. He tried to look away, but I wasn't lettin' him off that easy.
"Kali's pregnant," I said, voice cold. "And it's yours."
His eyes went wide, but he didn't say nothin', just stood there like a deer in headlights.
"You really thought you could keep this from me? Y'all been sneakin' around for months, and you didn't think I'd find out?" My voice was gettin' louder, the hurt spillin' out with every word.
He finally spoke, his voice low, "I didn't mean for this to happen."
"That's all you got to say?" I shot back. "You didn't mean for this to happen? You were messin' with my best friend behind my back, Deante! That's more than just a mistake!"
He started to walk toward me, hands out like he was gonna try to calm me down, but I wasn't havin' it. I stepped back, puttin' space between us. "Don't even try it. You broke my trust, and you broke us."
He looked down, his face full of regret, but I didn't care. "I messed up, I know that," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I was stupid. I didn't think, and now...now I've lost you."
"Damn right, you lost me," I spat. "I ain't got time to be playin' games with someone who can't even keep it real with me. You made your choice, and now you gotta live with it."
He opened his mouth to say somethin', but I cut him off. "Save it. We're done, Deante. Ain't nothin' you can say or do that'll fix this."
He stood there, lookin' like he was gonna say somethin', but he just nodded, like he finally understood just how bad he messed up. Without another word, he turned and walked out, leavin' me standin' there alone.
But this time, I wasn't just mad. I was free. Free from the lies, the betrayal, and the people who didn't deserve to be in my life. And as I watched him leave, I knew one thing for sure—I'd be just fine without him.
