Sorscha's pov:"Thanks for coming Autumn. You too Marjorie. Quinn absolutely adores you both." Clodagh said as she thanks them for coming.
"It's alright, my darling. I love to see her. She's just the sweetest." Marjorie, my manager, smiles as she sits down.
"Yes. Thank you Sorscha, and you Clodagh for inviting us over." The very straight to the point woman, is the deputy manager, Autumn. She can act like she doesn't care all she want but she's soft in the heart.
"So do either of you wanna hold her?" I asked the women. We haven't told anyone other than immediate family and Autumn, her middle name. We chose to name her after Autumn, since I know it pains her that due to the miscarriage she couldn't have the life she imagined, but I know how it feels. A few months before Clodagh was pregnant we had found out I couldn't have children, so I was heartbroken. It's different kinds of grief, however one similar variable. She also drove me to the hospital— despite a few red lights— she got me there to witness Quinn's birth. So I felt it only right.
"I'll hold her." Autumn volunteers. I watch my wife carefully place Quinn in her arms. Her eyes softened immediately. I've never seen that from her.
Slowly, she smiled. Something people rarely see her do.
"Wow. Autumn smiling. That's new." Marjorie remarks.
She just glared at Marjorie. "If we share a name, I feel like I should be able to hold her."
"Wait. They share a name? You.. they.. she.." Marjorie started to tear up and be very emotional. This is why we didn't particularly want to tell her yet. We don't mind the emotions, It's just that we heard how she reacted to Autumn and Winter's marriage. Actually I think everyone in a 10 mile radius could hear her scream that day.
"Oh my god. What if she grows up and calls you Aunt Autumn." She fans her eyes trying to not cry.
"Marjorie. If you speak a word to my brother or anyone else about this, I have a bat, and I do quite enjoy using it. Mia wont be the only one to have wrecked your car. The junkyard won't mind another vehicle already smashed into bits." Autumn faced Marjorie to speak. Her face deadpan, before turning back and smiling softly at Quinn, "However, I don't hate the idea of that. It'd be up to them, if anything." She nodded her head towards my wife and I.
"I wouldn't mind it. If that ends up happening, then I would find it quite adorable. Wouldn't you babe?" Clodagh looks at me.
"Yeah! I agree with her. It would be absolutely adorable if Quinn called her Aunt Autumn. Honestly the entire nursery is like my family, by the time she grows up, she might be calling everyone aunt or uncle." I chuckle. Seeing Autumn hold Quinn so gently is honestly such a weird feeling but she seems so happy to be holding her. Well as happy as Autumn can show.
I see Autumn's eyes widen when Quinn starts to fall asleep in her arms. As much as it pains her, i can see that it's slowly allowing her the space she needs to heal.
I think she saw something in Quinn. Something deep down. I don't know if anyone else noticed it but she treats her with love that you'd never expect out of her. People are scared of her and her actions but when she's holding Quinn, she's a lot softer, more gentle, and not something you see in Autumn everyday.
"Er.. yeah I'm quite alright. So Sorscha, Clodagh, you named her Quinn Autumn? That's adorable."
"Uh yeah yeah we did, it felt right, more necessary. We thought of other middle names but Autumn not only fit the best, it was a nice tribute." I explain to Marjorie, she was definitely crying.
"Oh! Babe.. is Marjorie okay?" Clodagh whispers to me.
"Marjorie- right- uh- breathe, Autumn, you doing alright?" I tried to focus on both my manager and my deputy manager.
"Her level of emotion is quite.. unwanted, however I should have known she would have reacted this way."
"Oh have a day off. I'm just so happy, that must feel amazing. To have a baby named after you, specifically." She puts her hands over her heart.
"Oh Marjorie, you never know, you could have secretly made an impact on someone's life." My sweet wife reassures her.
Autumn helps to put Quinn down for a nap with Clodagh. Marjorie and I sit chatting in the living room. Work, life, anything that comes to mind.
I see Clodagh peek her head from the corner, "Hey babe, do we have any wine?"
"Yeah, yeah, I think so, why?"
"I think Autumn deserves a glass. She's been very helpful with putting Quinn down to nap."
"I'll get her a glass. Do either of you want one as well?" *I ask Marjorie and Clodagh. They both nod and thank me.*
"Marjorie, do you prefer red or white? Because I know Autumn could care less, I'm just going to open some red. Clodagh drinks white. I'm going to have some cider, but what do you want?"
"I don't really mind, Darling. If Autumn is having red, I'll have some of that then."
"Grand!" I open up some white wine and pour it in a glass. Afterwards I open a bottle of red wine, pouring it into two glasses. Grabbing a bottle of cider. I place the drinks on the coffee table and hand Marjorie hers. Leaving the other two for when they finish up with Quinn. I grab a bottle opener, and pop open the bottle. Sitting back down on the couch.
A few moments later, Autumn and Clodagh join us again. Autumn take a sip of her wine.
"Thank you Sorscha." Autumn nods her head in appreciation.
All four of us sit drinking our respective drinks. All in all, I'd to say it was a pretty great night. Just hope that Marjorie doesn't end up spilling to Reece.
