Akemi was asleep as she twisted and turned in her sleep. Feeling something was off and not liking the nightmare she was having. Being overwhelmed as she gasped the moment she woke up.

Glancing around the room as she noticed the sun was up and it was time for class. Feeling the empty spot beside her. "Zero?" She asked out loud.

She climbed out of bed as she got her school uniform on. Fixing it before patting it down once she was done. Noticing a note on her nightstand.

"Went to my dorm to get ready. Come over when you're done or you can wait for me in your dorm. I'll be quick." -- Zero.

Akemi smiled at the note as she put it away before leaving her dorm. She still felt uneasy due to her dream but she couldn't pinpoint exactly why she felt that way. Reaching the male's room as she barged in. "Ze-."

Her eyes widened at the sight of Zero being held at gunpoint by Toga Yagari again. Frozen in her spot as she glanced at her boyfriend.

Zero spotted her behind his old teacher as he had already made a promise to her. Grabbing the gun just as he pulled the trigger and caused him to miss his shot.

"What? Don't you want to be killed by me?" Toga asked. "Did you forget already? You made such an oath to me about me not regretting losing my eye to save you. Seeing you like this, it makes me want to kill you. It might even make me happier. The life you have chosen is that of fresh blood."

"Shut up." Akemi spoke up as she watched him turn to her.

"What?" Toga asked as he faced her.

"You heard me. Zero is suffering because he still holds back from becoming like the rest of the vampires out there. He's been struggling for four years and he has finally been able to satisfy his hunger for a bit. It takes strength to do that. He didn't choose this. He didn't choose to become a vampire." Akemi responded as she wasn't fond of the man in front of her.

"Little girl."

"I-i am not a little girl!"

"You can stop me now but we both know that if he breaks down and loses control we're going to have to put him down. I leave that to you."

"Zero won't go down that path."

"How can you be so sure?"

"If I'm being honest.. I don't really know. I-i just have a feeling." She shrugged. "It might be me trying to deny the fact that the possibility is there but I want to believe in that small feeling."

Toga listened to her before sighing. "I wasn't going to kill him."

"Huh? But you shot at him-."

"Who misses a shot from that distance? That shot was going to miss him, not you. I didn't notice you until it was too late."

"What?!" Zero asked at the same time as Akemi.

"It wouldn't hurt humans. It's made for vampires only." Toga reminded.

"Doesn't mean I want to be shot at!"

"Well you're still here. I don't see the issue." He spoke. "I'm a busy man so I'll be heading out now. I expect to see you doing better when we meet again Zero." He left the room as he shut the door.

Akemi closed her fist as she watched the door  being closed. Relaxing when the warmth of a hand touched her own. Turning as she crouched to his level. Placing her free hand on his cheek. "Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

Zero stared at her worried expression as he calmed down just seeing her there for him. "I'm okay." He finally spoke. "I.."

Akemi noticed as she caressed his cheek. "You had a thought about letting him do it, right?" She asked as her worried expression became a saddened one. Glancing down as she knew the answer.

He hadn't meant to put such an expression on her features. He had never seen her that sad about something. Making her look up at him. "Akemi." He held a bit of shock to see her crying.

Akemi tried to make him let go. She didn't want him to see her crying but his hold on her wouldn't budge.

"I'm sorry." Zero spoke quietly. Pulling her closer to him so that she could be on his lap while they sat on the floor together.

Akemi shook her head. "No, I just... You have gone through so much, Zero." She sniffed quietly. "You've been in pain for so long for holding back a-and I just-..." She was cut off by him when he gave her a small peck.

He hoped the peck worked as he glanced at her. Pulling back only slightly. "I didn't stop him because you walked in. I stopped him because I made a promise to you. I want to get that done before I become..."

"Zero. You still have time. We can't give up."

"I'm not giving up. I just want to make sure that we really become one before anything else goes wrong."

Akemi listened to him speak before glancing up at him. Feeling his hand wipe her cheeks gently.

"Don't cry anymore.."

Akemi leaned into his hand before closing her eyes. "How can I not when you make me worry?"

Zero ran a hand through her hair gently. "I'm sorry."

"You don't have to apologize." Akemi responded as she opened her eyes once more. "A-and about your promise."

"You don't want to do it anymore?" He asked.

"I didn't say that. I was going to say that we can do it but just give me a bit of time." She shyly spoke.

"How about next week?" Zero asked.

"Alright. Next week we will do it. You better show up."

"I always show up."

"Liar. You flake out on me and Yuki during our patrol duties." She huffed before wrapping her arms around him.

"I do not." Zero narrowed his eyes before holding her as he got up.

"H-hey! Put me down! Where are you taking me this time?"

"I'm taking you to Headmaster Cross' office to tell him the news. He will probably want to know what we're up to." He replied.

"YOU WHAT?!" Kaien asked out loud at the two of them before him.

Zero looked bored at the man who looked like he had been electrocuted. "We want to get married next week. What's wrong with that?"

"You-you..!" He pointed at the silver haired with a shaky hand. "What's with this so suddenly?"

"Just in case anything happens." Zero replied. Giving a small look towards the man.

Kaien sighed as he got what the male was saying before tearing up and tackling Akemi like usual. "You're still a baby in my eyes. I can't walk you down an aisle without crying."

Akemi sweat dropped a bit as she sighed in a small content way before hugging him back. "I want you to be the one to do it. Whenever it happens. You're the dad that raised me." She spoke softly.

Kaien's eyes widened before he hugged her a bit more. "I don't want to give you away yet. You'll always be one of my little girls." He spoke. "But if you're both serious about going through with this then I'll set something up for you both. Don't worry about it. Are you sure you really want to do this? Marriage is a big responsibility and you'll have to keep it a secret."

"I'm sure.. dad." Akemi responded before patting his back at the hug getting tighter.

Zero noticed as he was amused watching it all happen before helping. Pulling her into himself. "I would like to keep her alive if you don't mind." He chimed in.

"Right.. right. I have preparations to make and am going to gossip about how my daughter will be the best." Showing them the way out. "Zero." He spoke seriously as he was about to close his door. "I really need you to keep her safe. That woman is still roaming this earth."

"I will." Zero replied with no hesitation and walked off with her.
