Once everyone went inside, Demyan went over to Krus and showed him a picture of a shirt he found at an online, second-hand clothing shop on Instagram.
"Do you think you'd want this shirt?" Demyan asked.
Krus saw that it's his exact measurements and he really liked the style of it, but he's already burdened his father enough by existing and he doesn't want to be more of a burden to him by having him buy a gift for him.
"No. Thank you, though."
Demyan was taken aback. It wasn't like his son to refuse a potential gift, especially if it was something he clearly wanted, but then again, his son isn't a child anymore, and the 14 years his children spent without him after he and his wife died had bound to wrought major changes in his son's character, just as it has with his daughter.
So he respects his son's decision.
"Alright, then."
Everyone then went to sit down on the dining table and Rschvania started listening intently as Sarv filled her in on some of the things that had occurred after her death, with Demyan and Karlijn occasionally chipping in while Emi, Krus, and Ruv stayed silent, but for different reasons.
Emi was silent because she was content with merely listening as her family talked while Krus and Ruv were silent out of unease.
Krus was conditioned to think that demons were pure evil, so having Sarv, who just so happens to be the devil herself (while ironically running a Church), around, as well as the fact that everything was so unfamiliar to him now, was bound to be extremely uncomfortable in this situation.
Ruv had forgotten about Krus and Rsch because they died when he was young, so to him, they're strangers instead of parents, and he's very untrusting of everyone he comes across except for his wife and children. Rsch and Krus weren't an exception to that.
When Karlijn wasn't speaking, she was looking at Krus understandingly. She knew how he felt, given that she was also resurrected from the dead, albeit long before he was, and although she was quick to get used to her new life, she knew that that wouldn't be the case for her brother.
With everyone preoccupied, Karlijn leans over to her mom's ear.
"Mamachka?"
Emi turns to her daughter. "Ja, schatje? (Yes, sweetheart?)"
"I know it's Sarv who's assigned with cooking lunch and then you who cooks dinner, but would you be okay with cooking lunch and dinner with her?" Her daughter asked. "Just for today?"
Her mother smiled at her. "I'll ask Sarvente about it first, so if she says yes, then I'd be more than willing to."
Her daughter smiles back. "Great! Krus has had to live without your cooking for 14 years, and it's gonna be a [bish] for him to adapt to his new life here, so some familiarity would definitely do wonders for him."
Although Emi was iffed at her daughter swearing, her daughter wasn't the same 14-year-old girl she was when she died, and she was an adult now, so there wasn't much she could do about it.
She chuckled. "It definitely would."
'Thank you...' Krus says gratefully through he and his sister's telepathic bond.
