Oops, i dialed love.

So like, you know that feeling when parang normal day lang, and then boom! Something unexpected happens? Ganun yung vibes ni Matthew. He was just minding his own business, trying to write, pero naalala niya bigla yung late-night call niya with some random guy na funny... and medyo cute pa. O diba, ang wild?

Matthew was at his desk, kunwari busy writing his latest piece. Pero, TBH, he was more focused on his phone. Sino ba naman ang hindi? After all, he had that unexpected, super interesting call with Nick—the guy who accidentally (or maybe not so accidentally?) called him the other night. Charot.

Madali lang dapat ito, Matthew thought while staring at his phone. Konting text lang, then back to work. Pero bakit ganito? Bakit ako kinikilig?

He replayed parts of their conversation in his head. Nick was hungover, funny, and even charming in a very effortless way. Yung boses ni Nick? Oh my gosh, deep, warm, with a slight rasp — parang voice actor lang sa mga drama series na inaabangan mo.

Shux Matthew whispered to himself, realizing he’d been staring at his phone for a good five minutes na walang type. Focus, Matthew. Kailangan ko lang mag-update. Nothing too flirty, pero nothing boring either.

Finally, he typed: Hey Nick, still recovering from last night? I can’t believe we ended up talking for hours! And with a grin, he hit send. Smooth, Matthew, smooth.

Hindi pa tapos ang kilig, kasi Nick replied agad: Matthew! Hahaha, still feeling it, but it was worth it. How about you? Writing anything inspired by our call?

Matthew laughed at that. Inspired? Well, pwede! he thought, then replied, I should! Our conversation was a rollercoaster. I don’t even know how we jumped from topic to topic, pero ang saya!

Nick’s reply came fast: That’s how you know it was a good convo. You’re a writer, right? What are you working on now?

Hala, smooth si kuya! Matthew thought, feeling a bit of a thrill. He replied, Yeah, I’m working on a new piece, but it’s a work in progress. I’m still finding my rhythm. Maybe you could be my muse? Hahaha.

Omg Matthew whispered, shaking his head with a smile. Bakit parang kinikilig ako dito? Nick was charming, super charming. But at the same time, Matthew found himself genuinely interested.

Nick’s response made him chuckle: Muse, ha? I like that. But seriously, if you ever need more late-night inspo, you know who to call. 😉

Wow, ang forward! Matthew thought, but he was totally into it. He typed back, I’ll keep that in mind. But for now, tell me more about yourself. What do you do when you’re not drunk-calling strangers?

Smooth move, Matthew. Keep it casual, he thought.

Nick responded with a laugh: "Marketing, pero chill lang. I love meeting new people, trying new things—sometimes including calling random people in the middle of the night. 😂 How about you? What’s a day in the life of a writer like?"

Matthew smiled, feeling that comfortable warmth. "Mostly writing, reading, or looking for new cafes to haunt. Minsan tambay lang with friends, but I’m more of a homebody. Oh, and I might have a slight obsession with cheesy rom-coms."

He didn’t have to wait long for Nick’s response. "Rom-coms, huh? Cute. I’m more of a sci-fi and action guy, pero may soft spot ako for rom-coms din. Especially the really cheesy ones na predictable."

Matthew laughed, feeling the conversation flow effortlessly. They talked about movies, books, dream travel destinations—lahat! It was easy, fun, and a little bit nakakakilig.
