Chapter 21

I woke up in the early morning to ghosty leaving. I reached and grabbed the edge of his pants pocket.
"Go back to sleep, I'm just helping them load the cars for today's trip." I groan wanting him to stay. He kisses my temple and I drift off again.

Sleeping seemed easier the last 2 days. As I stretched in the morning light from my bed I felt a sense of well rest. I push the sheet and blanket off of me and make my way to the dresser. I pulled out a pair of Adidas leggings and a baggy sweater. Might as well be warm and comfortable for the trip. Today we were all heading to the compound. My beg was already packed besides my clothes from yesterday. I had put them in the laundry room just before bed.

I took around the room. I was actually going to miss this place.

"Hey," I look up as I sling my bag onto my shoulder. "They said it's time to load up in the car!" George ushered me to come on.

"Oh wow, so soon?" I asked, he nodded. I move to follow him.

"It's almost noon, you slept a long time haha," George said. Oh my... and ghosty didn't tell me. I rush to keep up with George when I remembered that I needed to grab that pair of shorts from the laundry room . So, quickly reversing I head to the back of the house.

Bending over I open the dryer and start to put the extra clothes in the bag. I heard a noise behind me and when I looked an object hit me in the face breaking my nose and splitting my lip. The blow had me in shock. I was on the floor of the laundry room, a pair of heals in view.

"I will replace you. Especially since you won't be coming with us." Margo said with a sadistic voice. She closed the laundry room door. There was a snap that could have only been one thing, she was breaking the lock on the outside.

No, no, no! This wasn't happening. Things were going decently well again. I tried to call out but my lip was soaked in the blood from my face. I was dizzy as well. When I tried to stand I fainted.

7hrs later

My face felt numb and crusty. As the realization of the sun started to set through the window, I was left behind. I broke down. Crying and weeping like a child. I was locked in this room. No one came to find me. Not even ghosty. Did he even care about me after all?

I stayed in the laundry room all night, I kept the light off so anyone who may want to hurt me didn't know I was here. They would come back for me right?

No one came, another day came and went, I was getting unbearably hungry. I couldn't stay here. Abandoning the useless backpack I open the small window in the laundry room. I could fit and get out of here. And find a way into the house to get food.

I push myself up and through the window. The drop looked steep as it was a hill. If I landed right I wouldn't fall.

I grunt as my torso fit through and my legs followed as I tumbled. The drop was more than I thought and I started to roll down the hill. I scream as I roll, unable to stop. Scratches from trees start to cut at my hands and face. My sweater tore and I felt a stick slice my arm. My knee hit a rock on the way down causing me to gasp for hair as pain shot to my hip and foot. My body finally stops as I hit a tree at the bottom of the slope, I hear a crack and let out a bone curling scream. I just kept screaming, my body. I was gonna die out here. I look at the sky, the red and purple tones. Just like when I was shot in the chest, the sky looked so beautiful. I kept gasping for air when I couldn't scream anymore. I couldn't get up, the pain was burning.

I stared at the sky well after the sun was gone and my surroundings got dark. I hummed to myself to keep calm as I waited to die.

"If you go out.... In the woods," my voice cracks. "Today... you... better go in disguise..." I hummed the rest talking hurt my side. I probably broke a rib. Did it leave a hole in one of my organs. Did I care at this point? Take me out of my misery? I wanted to scream again. The entity was cruel, sadistic fuck! I felt the tears swelling in my eyes again.

As the night went on I started to see a small light coming my way. Ghosty? Please tell me it's him! I needed him. Hope sparked up inside me. The person shown the flashlight on me then lowered it.

"Don't move, it looks like both your legs might be broken." A man with short blonde hair and combat gear. I didn't know them. "My names Leon S. Kennedy. You'll be alright." He lifts me up and I wince.

"I'm Meg." I croak as he carries me further down and towards what looked like a trail.

"I heard your scream as I was walking the trail. It's a good thing you kept humming or I wouldn't have found you." Leon said. I don't say anything, my energy was depleting fast. Once on the trail Leon laid me down on the path. He took out a magenta syringe, the healing one and stabbed my chest with it.

"Apologies but I think your lung was punctured, best we have that heal first." Lean sat back as the magical syringe did its thing.

"Are you here alone?" Leon asked scanning the trees with a professional gaze. I sat up as the pressure, the pain dissipated.

"I don't have anyone, if you don't mind me traveling with you, I'm really hungry and don't have anywhere to go." I said, the words stung my heart. I felt unbelievably betrayed by Margo, she was actually insane.

Leon nodded, taking my hand he helped me up. He turned on his flashlight and lead the way down the trail. I wasn't sure where everything was going to lead from here but apart of me hoped that ghosty and I would find each other again.

6 months later

I laced up my boot outside the survivor bar in saloon town, it was a dessert area with a few forests around. Leon had just put the skeleton crews leader in a head lock position, he was enforcer cop and I was kick your teeth in cop. I folded my arms across my chest.

"Just tell us where your king is and we may let you go!" I say getting tired of waiting. I wore tech gear, My skin tight black baby tea and tough leggings with a utility belt and knife. Were my new bad ass don't fuck with me outfit. Leon had been casually training me since we met. I needed to be able to take care of myself.

"He's in the mountains of snow!" The skeleton crew leader said as Leon pulled out his gun. With a shove, Leon sent the leader forward. Leon wasted both time delivering a kick to his back sending him into a pile of horse shit. Don't go to saloon town if you aren't prepared to take it in the mouth with some horse slop.

Leon and I walked back to the jeep we had picked up on the way here. "Let's get some food and a jacket before we head to the mountains. Being prepared will give us an advantage." Leon says as he opens the passenger door. I nod as I get into the drivers side. We were looking for the skull king because he had a clue to the whereabouts of Leons long time acquaintance Ada.
