I woke up early in the morning, did my daily chores, and completed my pooja. I feel at peace when I pray at home. I was thinking about what to make for breakfast. After pondering for a while, I decided to make Aloo Paratha. I was having my breakfast when my phone rang; it was Sid, telling me that he would start in a few minutes to pick me up and that it would take him about an hour to get here. So, I thought I should buy some gifts for all of them. I went to the nearest shopping mall and bought a saree for Aunty, a shirt for Uncle, a dress for his sister, and a wallet for his brother, as I have never seen him, not even in the photos Sid has shown me. Lastly, I bought another shirt for Sid.
After completing my shopping, I checked the time; it was already 11 a.m., so I decided to call Sid to see where he was.
Deepika: "Sid, where are you now?"
Sid: "Akka, I am near the XYZ mall and will reach you in a few minutes."
Deepika: "Sid, I am at the XYZ mall. You wait outside; I am coming down. No need to go home."
Sid: "Ok, Akka, come outside. I am at the mall."
I went down to his car, and he took the bags from my hand and said:
Sid: "What is the need to buy all these now?"
Deepika: "I'm coming to your home for the first time, so it's needed. And please stop at a sweet shop; I want to get some."
Sid: "Ok, ok, let's start."
Deepika: "Sure."
After driving for a few minutes, we saw a sweet shop and bought some sweets for the family. Sid told me to get Rasmalai because he and his brother like it, so I bought some. Then we headed to his home. We reached there in half an hour. We went inside, and Sid called out to his mother loudly.
Sid: "Amma, Amma, come out! See who is here!" (Mom, Mom)
Sid's mom: "Vastuna, wait." (I'm coming, wait.)
Meanwhile, Sid's father came over and asked him:
Sid's father: "Emiendhira? Endhuku pillusunav amma ni?" (What happened, Sid? Why are you calling your mother like that?)
Sid: "Nanna, chudu yavaru vacharo!" (Dad, see who came here!)
Sid's father: "Yavaru?" (Who?)
Sid: "Deepika Akka! Nenu cheptha unta kadha akka kosam thanu." (Deepika! I told you about her.)
I stepped forward and greeted him.
Deepika: "Namaste, Uncle. Yella unnaru?" (How are you?)
Sid's father: "Good, ma. Nuvvu yella unnav?" (I'm good. How are you?)
Deepika: "Good, Uncle."
Sid's father: "Come, sit. Let's talk. Your aunty will be here soon; she's finishing her pooja."
Sid: "Okay, you both sit here. I'll call Divya."
We were talking about random things when Aunty came. I was surprised to see her; so, she is Sid's mom! I stood up to greet her.
Deepika: "Namaste, Aunty. How are you?"
Aunty: "Arey, Deepu! What are you doing here?"
Deepika: "I came with Sid, Aunty."
Sid came down, asking, "You both know each other?" We nodded, and then he asked, "How?" I said, "We met in a shopping mall." Aunty added, "Yes, we met in the mall and did some grocery shopping." Sid said, "That's good. So, you've already met my mother. Now, meet my sister, Divya."
"Hello, dear, how are you? I've heard a lot about you from your brother," she said.
"Hello, Akka, I'm good. I hope whatever you've heard is good," I replied.
"Yes, dear."
Then Sid said, "Akka, Annaya will come in the afternoon, then you can meet him."
"Hmm, sare."
I don't know why, but it felt like someone was watching me. I looked around but found no one. After that, we were having a casual conversation and gave the sweets to Aunty. While doing that, I remembered I had left the gifts in the car. So, I asked Sid for his car keys. He handed them to me with a questioning look. "Gifts," I explained, and he understood.
I stood up and said, "Uncle, Aunty, I'll be back in two minutes. I left some things in the car."
"Okay, dear," they replied.
I went outside, opened the car, and took out the gifts. As I was about to enter the house, I bumped into someone. I looked up and saw him. What is he doing here?
