The city simulation was crumbling around them, my ice stretching high above like jagged mountains, cutting off every path forward. Fire hazards erupted from the ground, leaving little space for the remaining hero squads to maneuver. But Bakugo, true to his nature, was charging headfirst into the chaos, his explosions cracking the air like thunder.
Bakugo (yelling): You think some oversized ice walls are gonna stop me, Icy-Hot?! Think again!
His squad was battered but still moving. Mina, Shouji, Tokoyami, Jiro, and Sato followed in his wake, explosions clearing debris, but exhaustion was starting to show on their faces.
He's reckless.
Of course he is.
From my vantage point, I watched Bakugo's team pushing forward. His aggressive style, explosive and loud, was everything I wasn't. While I set traps and controlled the battlefield, Bakugo preferred to bulldoze his way through, like a force of nature.
But he wasn't stupid. That's what made him dangerous. He knew my tactics, knew I'd be planning for every move he made.
But what he doesn't know is that I'm waiting for him.
Izuku said to eliminate him rather at the beginning and I've been toying with them a bit too much for now....
I saw them enter a narrow street between two buildings, my ice creeping in from both sides. It was the perfect spot. My fire surged through the cracks in the walls, turning the space into a furnace. Mina tried to counter with her acid, melting some of the ice, but it was too much. The heat from my fire and the cold from my ice overwhelmed them.
Bakugo (growling): Mina! Get us an exit!
Mina's acid hissed as it splattered against the ice, carving a narrow path, but the heat was too intense, and they couldn't break through fast enough. Bakugo's eyes locked onto me as I stepped out from the shadows, the firelight casting long shadows across my face.
Bakugo (sneering): I knew you'd be here, Todoroki. Let's end this.
He launched himself at me, explosions propelling him forward. I threw up a wall of ice, but he blasted through it like it was nothing. The force of his explosion knocked me back, but I was ready. I countered with a wave of fire, forcing him to retreat for a split second.
He's fast.
Bakugo didn't give me a moment to think. He was on me again, this time from the side. I barely dodged his next explosion, but the shockwave sent me stumbling. My hands touched the ground, and ice shot out in all directions, forming sharp spikes. He dodged, weaving between them with ease.
Bakugo (grinning): You're slowing down, Icy-Hot! What's wrong? Feeling the pressure?
He wasn't entirely wrong. The heat from my own flames was starting to get to me, the battle dragging on longer than I'd expected. But I wasn't done yet.
I created a massive ice wall, separating Bakugo from his team. Mina and the others tried to break through again, but I made sure it was reinforced. This battle was between us now.
He'll get reckless.
I can use that.
Bakugo blasted through the ice again, charging straight at me. I let him get close this time, waiting for the right moment. Just as he was about to land a direct hit, I unleashed a burst of fire at his feet, forcing him to propel himself upward to avoid getting burned.
That's when I struck. Ice shot up from the ground, forming a massive spear aimed directly at him. He twisted in mid-air, narrowly avoiding it, but the force of my attack sent him crashing to the ground.
He's not down yet.
Bakugo rolled to his feet, panting but grinning. Blood trickled from a cut on his forehead, but it only seemed to fuel his determination.
Bakugo (taunting): That all you got? I've fought tougher battles in my sleep!
had to give him credit—he was relentless. But I had a plan. One that Izuku and I had crafted carefully.
Bakugo charged again, but this time I let him get close. Too close. Just as he was about to land another explosion, I froze the ground beneath him, causing him to slip. His explosion went wide, and I took advantage, creating a thick fog of ice and fire, obscuring his vision.
Bakugo (yelling): Coward! Face me!
I didn't answer. Instead, I stayed hidden in the fog, using it to mask my movements. I could hear his footsteps, the crackle of his explosions, but he couldn't find me. Not yet.
Suddenly, I heard a scream. Mina's voice. I glanced over to see my ice wall shattering—her acid finally breaking through. She and the others rushed in to help Bakugo, but it was too late. I had already set my trap.
Checkmate.
As Bakugo's team entered the fog, I released a final burst of fire and ice, encircling them in a deadly ring of flames. The heat was suffocating, the ice sharp enough to cut through steel. Bakugo's eyes widened as he realized what had happened.
Bakugo (furious): Damn it!
He launched a massive explosion at the ground, using the shockwave to propel his team out of the trap just in time. They tumbled across the pavement, barely avoiding being taken out completely.
Bakugo scrambled to his feet, pulling Mina and the others up with him. Sato was panting heavily, clearly on the verge of collapse. Jiro had a gash on her leg from one of the ice spikes, and Tokoyami's Dark Shadow was shrinking, weakened from the constant attacks.
But Bakugo didn't back down.
Bakugo (gritting his teeth): We're not done yet, Todoroki! You hear me?!
His explosions flared up again, the sound deafening. He was ready for another round, but I could see the exhaustion in his eyes. His team was falling apart, and he knew it.
I could end this now. But...
I hesitated. Just for a second. But it was enough.
Bakugo's next explosion came faster than I expected, and I barely had time to react. The force of it sent me flying backward, slamming into a building. My vision blurred for a moment, and I felt the impact reverberate through my bones.
He's not giving up.
I should've known.
Bakugo stood there, panting, his hand still smoking from the explosion. His squad was behind him, barely standing but still fighting.
I underestimated him.
But this was far from over. And Bakugo knew it too
