S2, EP 5: Together With You

While they were going through the shopping district, Elma and Tohru started having a dispute. As they were disputing, Ben would watch on, exhausted with them.

Ben: "Why do you two always snarl at each other in public? Can't you two behave like you do at home?"

Tohru: "She's the one that's always glaring at me! Rude!"

Elma: "That's because you need to actually appreciate Fried Tofu Fritters!"

Ben: "Ugh." He sighs, pushing up his glasses. "I guess there's no point in trying to reason with either of you. Nothing I can do if you both have hated each other ever since you two first met."

Tohru: "Huh? No, I can't say we've always wanted to kill each other." She turns to Elma. "Right?"

Elma: "Yeah, I agree. That part came much later."

Ben: "Huh. I guess there's still more about you two I have to learn." He turns to Tohru. "Please, tell me more."

Flashback: A Long Time Ago

In Tohru and Elma's home realm, Tohru is currently standing in the middle of a bazar, wearing a cloak that conceals her body. She listens in on the conversations the humans are having.

The humans talking are speaking of war, royalty, and all kinds of talk that people of their realm would be concerned about.

Past Tohru: "Humans are such foolish creatures." She watches a couple children fight over a rotten apple. "Every time they open their mouths, it's about conflict. They don't even try to enjoy their pitiful and worthless lives."

Peasant 1: "Everyone!" He runs into the center of the Bazar. "The Priestess of the Holy Seas is here!"

Peasant 2: "The Priestess?"

Peasant 1: "What a miracle for her to finally come to our town!"

As the humans in the bazar start congregating and moving towards where the priestess is, Tohru thinks to herself.

Tohru: 'The Priestess of the Holy Seas. She intervenes in human conflicts and creates favorable resolutions. If the conflict is over water or food, she creates lakes and abundant harvests. If humans clash, she uses her power to quell their urge to fight.' She grits her teeth. 'She must be a God! Or a similar entity at least!"

Tohru starts following after the crowd, keeping herself as discreet as possible.

Tohru: 'Either way, it's against the rules for such beings to interfere with society!'

The people from the bazar, and the surrounding area, are now standing on the edges of a road. Down said road is a fancy carriage being pulled by two camels.

Tohru: 'That must be her. What's she like?'

As the carriage drives by, the people begin to murmur about Elma. The one noticeable difference about her is that she now has long hair.

As the carriage past Tohru, she scoffs as Elma side eyes Tohru, before looking back forward.

Tohru: 'That woman! She is neither a god nor a divine messenger! Is she.....does she think this is a joke!?"

Later that night, laying in an extravagant and comfortable bed, Elma wakes up from her sleep. She sits up from the bed, looking to her right to see Tohru sitting on the windowsill.
