The next day, Jade was in a rush. She had a revelation in her dreams and needed to confirm a few things. She filled Bastet's bowls with food and water before running to the cave.

She grabbed the vials needed and headed out. This had to be done as soon as possible.

After taking the samples and sending them for analysis, Jade had a few more things to do. She pulled out quite a few case files and began going through them, trying to connect events in a timeline.

The missing pieces were falling into place and created a picture she didn't want to see. There was one last thing she had to do, but she had everything she needed. She needed to get Tim.

She ran upstairs to his room. She knocked on the door a few times, but no answer. Today was supposed to be his day off, so he should be at the manor. She went to check the other rooms.

She checked the library, Father's study, kitchen, living room, and other places she knew he frequented but there was no sign of him. she finally decided to ask Pennyworth.

"Oh, Master Timothy had to leave for a case with his team. I believe he would be away for a couple of days." Pennyworth mentioned.

Jade felt frustrated. She didn't want to wait for a few more days. Her other brothers couldn't help either. So she had to ask her sisters. She went to her room and grabbed her phone.

That's when she noticed Tim's message that he would be away but would update her on when he would be back. She sent a thumbs-up and texted him to be safe. She then made a group chat with both girls and requested a meeting.

They ended up meeting after lunch in the manor. They headed to the cave. Jade explained the gist of the situation to them. It was clear that they were skeptical, but they were willing to hear her out.

Once she told them the whole theory, they helped her fill more gaps. They refined the plan with her and agreed to do their part. Now came the hardest part. She had to leave Gotham.

Getting out of Gotham was surprisingly easy when she knew who to contact. All she had to do was to do it in daylight when everyone just returned from patrol and was asleep.

She had just left the manor, leaving a letter saying that she was safe and had to take care of something. She knew her family would probably not trust the letter but with her sister's being informed it should work. They wouldn't tell anyone where she was going, but just that they knew where she was and that she was safe.

Jade was on a flight to Switzerland. She was nervous about what she might find, but she needed to know the truth. She was tired of living on the edge. It was time for her to take charge.

When her flight landed, a car was waiting for her. The ride to the hotel was silent. It was a luxury hotel, but she didn't expect anything less. A man waiting at the door led her to the top floor. He stopped in front of a door and motioned for her to go ahead.

She opened the door and was greeted by the sight of her mother, in her usual business attire, sitting on the balcony as she drank her afternoon tea. Jade approached her and took the seat in front of her.

She waited for her mother to acknowledge her. "There was a time when I thought this would never be possible." She said as she sat her empty cup on the table between them. "I was stuck in the mindset that my duty to the league comes before everything. There was nothing I wouldn't do for the league."

"Your father was the closest I became to betraying this belief. He showed me that the league was not absolute. He opened my eyes to the world, and it was frightening."

"But despite everything, I chose to keep my eyes closed. To choose the league. To choose the easy path. But then you came along. Despite all the training I had, despite taking the lives of so many innocent children, you changed me."

"Something in me awakened, and for the first time, I didn't want things only for myself but for you, too. I wanted to give you a better life than mine. But the league wouldn't allow it, so I had to send you away," her mother said.

It had been so long since they had a real conversation that she was caught off guard. When she was in the league her mother always had to be harsh and stern. If she acted soft towards her, it would be an opportunity for their enemies to exploit.

That's why their relationship always seemed distant. But ever since she left the league, their relationship changed. They were more open with one another, and in their brief contact, there always was this warmth that she came to appreciate.

Of course, her mother still kept her distance from her. It wouldn't have done any good with the number of enemies they had to shout about their improving relationship.

Still, this was the first opportunity they had to truly talk without having a time limit hanging over their head. She knew she had some hard questions to ask, and she couldn't put them off forever.

So she asked her first question.
