I. The technique of novices.

Although I don't dislike the idea at all, I have to admit that I would have preferred to have the apartment to myself. It's not that I hate socializing or have problems with people (usually), but I love having a private space where I can be myself without having to hold myself back for such bland and mundane things as morals and ethics.

I stopped in front of the door of room 163 and after searching a little in my pockets I ended up finding the key to the apartment, but as soon as I got the key closer, the door opened from the inside and a girl with pink hair stared at me for a few seconds with an obvious surprise in her eyes, until finally she smiled at me and leaned forward to reduce the height difference.

    — Hello, little one. Are you looking for someone? Did you get lost? — she asked cheerfully.

    — ... Are you stupid?

    — H-Huh?

    — My name is Yunli. I guess you must be my roommate, right? — I adjusted my bag a little and then looked inside the place; I could quickly identify the boxes that had my belongings in them —. Will you let me in? I want to sort my things.

    — O-Oh sure... It's just that... — she scratched his cheek a little —. Could you show me an ID...? I'm still not sure if you're-

I ran a hand over my face trying to gather all my patience and self-control so as not to insult the girl anymore, and finally, after a heavy sigh of resignation, I checked my bag and showed her my card and the documents proving that, despite my appearance, I had a residence permit and was studying at the academy.

    — Can I come in now?

    — A-Ah, of course, of course... — she stepped aside —. My name is March Seventh. Sorry if I offended you or something like that. It's just that... Well... You look too young to be studying here...

    — Have you ever been taught not to judge a book by its cover? — I crossed my arms, leaving my bag on the sofa of the living room for a moment —. It's not my fault that everyone from the Hunting Palace enters with more than eighteen to study. So that I don't sound like I'm insulting you, let's just say that I'm ahead of all of you.

    — Don't you think you've gotten too cocky?

I grabbed one of the big boxes and then headed towards my room.

    — Which area of Xianzhou are you from?

    — I don't belong to this region. I was invited because I managed to win a tournament last year and my parents told me that it could be a good opportunity for me — she explained somewhat nervously.

    — Hmmm... It's a shame.

"It's a shame that you occupy a position in the academy that could have been taken advantage of by someone else," I thought.

    — Why?

    — O-Oh, because it looks like they would have forced you to come.

    — Nothing like that — she smiled —. They have always let me be a free soul, and coming here was my decision. I want to learn the art of the sword and look like one of those comic book heroes.

    — It's a somewhat childish reason, but I guess anything is valid when talking about dreams.

    — Someone told me the same thing — March laughed —. No one will make me change my mind, much less let them force me to change my dream. It would cease to be March Seventh if it stopped acting like the March Seventh that everyone knows.
