A Fighting Battle

Part 15: Family

Grace's POV:

"JACOB!"

Jacob: oh my god Grace I'm so glad you're okay!!! I've missed you kiddo

All my emotions got the best of me and I started to cry. Jacob came over to me and carefully gave me a massive hug and whispered words in my ear to soothe me.

Jacob: it's okay kiddo, it's been real rough for you, but don't worry, you're safe here with us.

"I know I am, it's just a lot has happened today. Seeing mum again, being released from hospital after a month and now seeing you again after 3 whole years."

Leah: you're our baby sister, we love you so, so much. Nobody is hurting you ever again. It's been a fighting battle Grace, and it's not over just yet.

Jacob: hey monkey is it okay if you stay here with mum for a few minutes while I go and speak to Leah.

"of course, I need some quality time with mum without you two pestering me."

Leah: I see how it is, trying to get rid of us already" she laughs. "Come on Jacob: she's been quite cheeky over the past month as you can see."

Jacob: yeah I never doubted that kid for a second. We won't be long mum.

Amanda: okay darlings, take all the time you need.

Jacob's POV:
I walked in mums hospital room to see her hugging my sisters. Honestly, I was really glad to see Grace again after 3 long years. That poor kid had been through so much because of our dad. In fact I don't know if I can call him my dad anymore. I needed to speak to Leah about everything without her listening in because I didn't want to trigger her even more.

As we stepped outside the room, I sat down on the chairs in the hallway while Leah sat next me and we shared a long hug.

Leah: I've missed you lil bro.

"Me too sis, me too. It's been a long few months ey. How did you manage to find Grace?

Leah: Well I got a call from Southampton Hospital to say that mum had been admitted and that Grace was there with her. Since I had a game there in a few days time I thought that's when I would go and see them both but that didn't exactly go to planned.

"why not"

Leah: Grace turned up at our game where she bumped into Katie and Georgia which led all of us on a wild goose chase until we finally found her. Later that day she passed out twice because she had no food inside her and hadn't slept in days.

"Wow that must of been scary honestly."

Leah: oh yea definitely it was. Then came the day of the Arnold Clark Cup Final match. She was walking around with us when she spotted dad. The poor little mite ran off, but he got to her first and that's when he stabbed her.

"I swear to god when I see that man I'm going for hi-

Leah: no Jacob don't, you'll only make things worse.

"I don't care he deserves it, Grace has it way worse than us so I'm only going to treat him like he did to us"

Leah: I mean it Jacob, our dad is a horrible person and you aren't like him. Nothing else will happen to Grace now because she's got us to care for her and now she's living with me permanently everything will go back to how it used to be. If you retaliate back to dad then your acting just like him and you shouldn't do that. You're my favorite little brother I've got.

"Um I'm your only brother you've got mate."

Leah: still my favorite.

"Thanks for the very inspirational speech big sis, now let's go back in there before Grace starts ripping mums ears off by chatting to much, you know what she's like.

Leah: hahaha oh hell yes I do.

Me and Leah stood up and went back inside mums room to find the most cutest sight.

Amanda's POV:

"So darling, I would normally ask how you've been but I can tell things aren't great"

Grace: er no, I've missed you so much mum.... I felt so scared when he came after me that night, I honestly thought I was going to die. Leah wasn't there, nor Jacob, I was all alone.

"Oh honey, I can't imagine it all, let's just say I can't love him ever again, he drew the line a long time ago. I think living with your sister will do you much better as she can help you more at the moment."

Grace: yea I mean I can barely walk and I'm still in some pain when I'm moving round so I guess I'm stuck like this for a while.

"It will get better Grace, you're still healing and you will be back playing football in now time you just have to be patient."

Grace: mhm yea I suppose your right mum-

Grace paused halfway through her sentence and she let out a massive yawn.

"Are you tired bubs"

Grace: hmm what no never

"Come on honey, try and get some sleep, I'm right here next to you"

Grace: I love you mum

"I love you too bubs"

She spoke very lazily as I watched her eyelids slowly close as she cuddled into me. Oh how I've missed these cuddles with my kids.

Just then Leah and Jacob came back into the room and I gently smiled at them while they placed themselves either side of me and Grace.

Finally, for the first time in 3 years I had all my kids in the same place as me.
